Introduction
Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, also known as Burgos Lighthouse, is a cultural heritage structure in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, which was established during the Spanish Colonial period in the Philippines. The Cape Bojeador lighthouse was part of the Spanish government 's master plan of illuminating the Philippine archipelago. It was first lit on March 30, 1892; it was first designed by Magin Pers and Pers in 1887 and was finished by the Lighthouse Service under Guillermo Brockman. It is a typical Spanish Colonial lighthouse which is masonry made with bricks. This light house was a witness of the Spanish era and legend says that the lantern used in the light house was a diamond.
Name and general location
Cape Bojeador Lighthouse is also known as Burgos Lighthouse or Faro de Cabo Bojeador. Faro de Cabo Bojeador is a Spanish way of saying Lighthouse at Cape Bojeador. It was also known as Burgos Lighthouse because of the name of the town it was in which was Burgos, Ilocos Norte. Burgos was originally known as Nagparitan, meaning prohibit, or Nagpartian which means the place of slaughter. It was changed in honor of a martyred priest,
