Precious Objects Research Paper
Precious objects tend to bring back a feeling of joy and a flashback of sudden memory. Usually, many may consider a precious object as one of a kind or irreplaceable and unique. That’s not quite the situation for me. My meaningful objects are simply a cup of Cheerios and coffee that my grandma would put together for me as a breakfast treat after every night I spent with her.
My grandmother was the world to me. The only time I ever saw her was during meals as well as right when I woke up and fell asleep. However busy, she would always manage to put together the coffee and Cheerios for me every morning. It may not seem like the most appealing or healthy thing for a little girl like me to eat, but I loved it. I enjoyed the sight of the Cheerios

It was because the longer I ate with her, the more time she could spend with me as we exchanged laughters and our dreams from the previous night. I did not seem to appreciate our time together as I grew older. I never really acknowledged her effort to be with me. I regret every second that I did not treasure our moments together.
To me, these common household items, symbolize how the greatest gifts in life are the time and moments you spend with the people who love you. My grandmother would always put aside her busy day so she can treat me with Cheerios and coffee. She always showed effort in trying to spend time with me because she loved me. She was one of the very few people who loved me.
These objects, to this day, remind me of how she loved me with an everlasting love. I use the word “everlasting” because it never ends as it lasts through eternity. Similar to what Aleph Paulo Coelho stated, I believe that we never really lose our loved ones for they do not disappear from our lives, but are merely in different rooms.
My grandma may not be in my world anymore, but simply looking at Cheerios and coffee sparks a connection and a familiar feeling in my

In the short story “The Things They Carried,” written by Tim O’Brien, there is a lot of symbolism in each specific object that was mentioned. According to Dictionary.com, a symbolism is the practice of representing things by symbols, or of investing things with a symbolic meaning or character. Each physical item has its purpose as in why I carry it. Its pretty basic too, I carry my keys to my car, which I love, since me and my car have seen a lot together and she brings me many places in exchange for her favorite type of drink, also known as gasoline. It’s got a special feeling to it every time I get in it. Just knowing you did all the modifications to it yourself to define your version of perfection for that vehicle.…

For as long as I could remember my Grandma was my best friend. She learned how to use a phone just so she could talk to me every day. Every time I would go to her house we would play board games and make cookies. In elementary school she would pull me out of class we would go to the park or Olive Garden. Over a span of three years she developed alzheimer's, and it was miserable. Watching someone you love fade away takes a toll on you.…

In the novel The Things They Carried, by Tim O'Brien, soldiers would do just about anything to stay sane and alive during the Vietnam War. Some men would have carried things with them during the war. These same men would carry things to remind them of home, others would carry an item to help them feel better during their hardships. What these men carried was something to hold onto, moreover not an item but of a memory or a dream. Soldiers would do just about anything to stay sane and alive during the Vietnam War. I also have items that I would feel wrong without; these items are symbols of me.…

Grandmas, the ones that cook for you and give you candy are the ones that love you for who you are and let you get away with things they wouldn't let their own kids get away with. Some grandmas can't even walk when they get up in age, but then there are some like mine who at the age of 83 are doing things other 83 years olds don't and shouldn't be doing. Most people would expect an 83 year old grandma to be knitting, light cooking, playing bingo and slowly walking her way to church. Not my grandmother, you can find her climbing on ladders, fixing fans, constantly moving, driving big pick-up trucks, all while looking like she is going to the social club.…
