Prayer in School
At the end of the 20th century the most powerful, wealthiest best educated country is still one of the most religious? This and many other reasons is why prayer should be allowed in The United States School Systems. Prayer is an everyday aspect of Christian life. Prayer invites Gods participation in the school environment and the education process. Christians feel the need to pray over personal problems or the needs that arise in the school environment.

In 1963 the US Supreme Court ruled prayer in public schools to be unconstitutional. The U.S. News poll revealed that 65 percent of Americans would approve if the Supreme Court found a moment of silent prayer in the schools to be acceptable. Prayer is an every aspect of Christian life. Jesus Christ was a person of prayer, he taught his followers to do the same. He told them “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock the and the door will be opened to you” (Luke 11:9-10). With this in mind how do we expects children to turn this concept off at school when this is what they are being taught out of school?

Christians believe that prayer invites Gods participation in the school environment and the educational process. If you are Christian you believe “For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6). Christians want to pass everything they learn pass God so He can give them wisdom to what is true and good and what id false or unwholesome.

Christians feel the need to pray over personal problems or the needs that arise in the school environment. If someone is upset in school over a project or a fight with a friend, Christians want the freedom to turn to religion for insight and guidance. They believe you confess your sins and pray for each other and you will be healed. The affect on society that the lack of religion in schools over the past 50 years has been detrimental. People can agree to disagree and this is good for the country. Expression and speech are two great rights we have as US citizens and we have the right even compelled to use said rights. However the Government is not made up of one individual who has one voice and speaks for all. It is made up of many people with many voices that speak for everyone.     This article was very surprising to me I was amase at what the findings from the survey were when it come to prayrer at public school graduations. The majority of prayer at public school graduation came from state in the south followed by states in the Midwest. State in the east came in third and sadly were I live state in the west came in last. But the most surprising and positive statistic came from the percentage of students that were involved in prayer at public school graduations, that percentage was 70 percent. That means that 70 percent of the time prayer at public schools was given by a students, which is a great number for our youth. It was also suprising that only 114 of the 4231 school districs had an actual policy regarding prayer at school.
