1 The poem I selected is called “I Hear America Singing” by Walt Whitman. The major theme I could find was how he could hear all the noises that go on around him in America and he compares the noises to singing. Some of the figurative language I saw was personification, metaphors, and repetition, which all help to show his meaning in this poem. The first figurative language I saw was personification.…

I find that being a teenager living in a first world country in the 21st century, it is nearly impossible to not be reliant on technology. Our whole life is ran by computers from our ride to school all the way to what makes our coffee in the morning. I find that even if I don't want to, I will never not be reliant on technology. Each and every morning I wake up and turn off my alarm which means the very first thing I do in the morning is use technology, all the way until the last thing I do at night which would either be turning off my lamp from reading a book or finishing an episode on netflix, technology is the first thing I use from when I close my eyes until I open them.…

Technology does not help human character. It separates people from nature and from themselves. Technology seems to take away people’s emotions. "As human beings we need direct, natural experiences; we require fully activated senses in order to feel fully alive" (Opposing Viewpoints in Context). Face to face contact is very limited with all the advances in technology and it is making people “artificial.” Technology has made people lazy, impatient and maybe even depressed.…
