"The Impact of Technology on Humanity" Explains the impact of technology on our lives. (781 words)
The Impact of Technology on Humanity

Do you remember the good old days when people used to light up a fire to warm the oven, when A-tracks were hugely popular and when cars were run on carbureted engines? I sure don't; I wasn't alive for those wonderful times. Technology advances take place every day in the world. It can make our lives easier, spare us some extra time, provide us with new and innovative products/services, and also annoy the hell out of us when trying to understand what it is the novel for the TV remote is saying! With the rapid increase of technology in today's society, it brings only good things such as increased competition with lower prices, a more efficient workplace, increased productivity, and of course a higher stand of living.

With new technologies, ideas and innovations being introduced to the marketplace all of the time, it creates more opportunities for entrepreneurs to seize these opportunities and fill society's needs and wants. The startup of small businesses in North America has increased immensely over the past decade with higher demand from consumers. With more businesses being started up, it creates more jobs for people, which decreases unemployment, increases competition, brings down prices, and overall provides improvement for our economy. Who can complain if more jobs are available to a community and if products/services can be provided more affordably to the people?

With new technologies being implemented all of the time, things such as machinery, computers, electronics, etc. are capable of performing more tasks, doing things faster, more accurately and doing the job it used to do much easier than it previously did. An example of this would be newer cell phones. Phones about 7 years ago used to be able to call people - that was pretty much it. Today, however, the phones are about half the size (if that) and are capable of storing 500 contacts/numbers, calling people and performing various tasks through voice activation,

Technology and advancement is great right? Sure, for some people. Technology and advancement can have its benefits, but it can also have its negative impacts as well. In fact, a perfect time period to see this negative impact in technological advancement is the second half of the nineteenth-century in America. American technology and industrialization changed the life of many social groups. Some positively, but most negatively. The urban population felt the worst impact during this period. The New South also felt the negative effects of this period, and the middle-class got a little bit of both good and bad. Generally, in the late 1800s, technological advancements and industrialization had a severely negative impact on many different social groups.…

They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in “advanced” countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world.” I have experienced technological advancements by working with any new software on a computer and the constantly evolving world of phones and computer, so I have some mixed feelings in agreement to both views. It is through this I have learned that technology evolving can be good but it does, at times, come with heavy burdens and consequences for the…

Entrepreneurs are a main force that propel private enterprise. Entrepreneurs possess the desire to start a business despite the risks involved, “An entrepreneur is someone who sees a potentially profitable opportunity and then devises a plan to achieve success in the marketplace and earn those profits” (Kurtz). The private enterprise system would not function correctly if not for the entrepreneurs that pressure previous companies to compete for customers. Entrepreneurship is also a vital part of the free enterprise system because it creates job opportunities, “Every year, they create more than one of every five new jobs in the economy.” (Kurtz) The new start up companies also create more jobs by allowing business owners to be self employed. New technology and innovations are often produced by these companies the most in areas that are new and have a low level of competition. Because of their limited resources, small businesses…

Technology has changed our lives tremendously but there is a down side to have such incredible technology though. With the help of technology, the need of employees was not that necessary. The fact that technology can take the job of a human is detrimental to some people because they need to make a living in order to take care of their families. So the technology boom that happened in the 1990’s was a great thing and a not so great thing at the same time. Day by day technology grows more and more and humans are needed less and…

Technology has shaped and defined human activity and it has made life easier but more dangerous. As Langdon Winner explains in his piece, Technological Somnambulism, technology is a neutral tool. It can be used in a positive or a negative way. As well, Modern technology can be dangerous in many different ways. As more technology becomes available to the public, more people rely on it. This could be a problem; for example when many people want to figure something out, they will probably just type the question into Google. Technology allows us to think less about certain things, which may be easier but it “dumbs us down”. This could be considered dangerous because we may rely on technology too much and we could become lazy with our everyday rituals. With that said, technology has also helped us improve medicine and science to help cure certain diseases. Without these improvements we wouldn’t be as strong as a community. There seems to always be positive and negative things that come with technology.…

Think of the days when there were no computers or televisions, when all modern technology didn’t exist; society and life was utterly different. People depended on themselves and used all their common knowledge; people lived a simple, but efficient life. Not all technologies or innovations have had a positive impact on us. Technology negatively affects us by perpetuating the mindset of immediate satisfaction. The creation of various portable technological devices has slowly ingrained the idea of instant gratification. Cell Phones let us keep in touch at all times virtually anywhere, it has created a mindset of instant gratification and that whenever we want pleasure it should be put immediately in from of…

In this modern world, many people can’t survive without the aid of modern technology. Do you remember when people used to send messages through the use of the “pony express”? Or when people used to get up from their couch to change the channel of the television? I can’t imagine how people could live without modern technologies such as cell phones, internet, and many more. Technology today has made life easier and quicker but dangerous. As we look at technologies, questions are raised. By the way what are technologies? Modern technology is machinery that makes life easier. For example, microwave ovens cook food easily without using stoves and making a big mess. Today modern technology also has created problems because they are dangerous. How is technology dangerous? The answer to this question is very simple. There's lots of incident where there is malfunction in technology. For example, if there is a problem with a car than the car won't be able to run, or if there is a technical mistake in the car that the car would dysfunction and this could lead to a crash. Nowadays, when the rapidness of development and research is so impressive, it is easy to think about the advantages of modern technology. Nevertheless some people argue that science can destroy mankind. It is also obvious that we are close on an era where technology is limited only by our imagination. As time passes, more and more new technologies will develop for the purpose of the survival of man but the most frequently asked question is: Does technology go the right way and will it save or ruin our civilization? Do you think modern technology has made life easier and safer? Or do you think that modern technology has made life more difficult and more dangerous?…
