Pleasant Valley Elementary School Case Analysis
Analysis of Pleasant Valley Elementary School

To the Board of Education: My name, and I have been hired as a consultant to assess Pleasant Valley Elementary School. I will be looking at the school’s current strategy and will provide feedback and suggestions to improve the quality of work and ideas to improve students Standards of Learning (SOLs) test scores. Currently the school is in a bit of disarray. The physical plant is not taking care of the issues that were affecting the school. There is furniture in the hallways and the building reeks of urine. The current administration is lacking as well. The current record keeping is a mess. There is no real structure to ensure record-keeping or to keep track of students’ academic achievement or advancement. An even bigger problem is that there is no accountability for the teachers. Teachers are also straying away from the core SOLs, they take field trips that are not related to subjects at hand. Logistically speaking, grade levels are not in the same wings providing a deterrent for engaging teachers to help one another, and student interaction. Another issue is that students are not scoring well on the SOLs.

This will help build a better community. Another option would be to decrease class size, this will create a better learning environment for the children and all more one on one time between the educators and

On March 7th, 1980, two high school freshman were found smoking in the bathroom at Piscataway High School in Middlesex County, NJ. The students were escorted to the vice principal Mr. Choplick’s office. The defendant, TLO, who was one of the students that were caught smoking denied the accusation. Mr. Choplick inspected TLO’s purse and found a box of cigarettes. Afterward removing the box of cigarettes, he saw a pack of rolling papers. Mr. Choplick suspected that a closer examination of the purse may yield evidence of drug use and that a thorough inspection would be needed. After a thorough search, he found a small amount of marijuana, a pipe, a number of empty plastic bags, a large amount one dollar bills, an index card with a list of who…

Chardonnay stated that her grades were good, but in one of her classes, she was failing until she turned in a missing assignment. I asked Chardonnay if she had gotten any trouble lately. Chardonnay stated she couldn’t remember when she got in trouble, but she did remember that she was upset about something. Chardonnay…

His current Fountas and Pinnell (F&P) reading level is a D, which is on grade level for entering first grade. He was retained last year and currently remains with his former teacher from the previous school year. The decision to retain was based upon low academic performance, as well as his age (December birthday). The second major issue with the school was the zero-tolerance policy. My previous schools had been bad in this regard, but this one took the cake. The teachers punished all 'crimes' equally, with several days in ISS (In School Suspension) where children would frequently get behind in their schoolwork. Dropping a pencil during a test and having the audacity to pick it up was met with the same punishment as pushing me down a flight of concrete stairs with a twenty-pound baritone. Usually, in my class of twenty-four to twenty-six students, at least four students would be gone every day due to minor in school suspension infractions.…
