KILLER PLATIC BAGS DAN DAN DANN!
Have you ever wondered why lots of marine animals are dieing? “Thousands of marine animals are dieing because of confusing plastic bags with food”. (Environment CA). Plastic bags are also bad for the environment because they are not 100% decomposable. Distributors and investors say that the ban began because plastic bags where such a success. (Bag the Ban) Plastic bags are killing mother earth. They are nothing but unusable toxic material. Thousand of bags are leaving the city and heading into oceans and killing thousands of marine wild life. Americans through away 123,000 tons of plastic bags but 8% of the those bags end up killing marine animals. Some marine animals die either of choking on the plastic bags or confusing them for food.
Plastic bags are also bad for the environment because the are made from oil . People believe that plastic bags are reusable when in reality they are a threat to our environment because they are made from oil , they are hard to brake down and it takes a long time and they can 't be melted and reshaped, because its to hard to do. Some people believe that so they can get ride of them by burning them ,but it is worse than living them to decompose.
Some people believe that plastic bags are recyclable , when in reality they are not 100% decomposable. Plastic bags are harmful for the environment . For example “plastic bags are made up of oil, and they are everywhere”(malik). Plastic bags are everywhere, they are thrown into the streets and they go into drainage pipes which then end up into oceans (Malik). The state 's decision to implement a policy that bans plastic bags will have a positive impact. The ban is positive because it stops the deaths of marine wild life and it also helps by the environment by not having to make more things out of oil which are toxic when they are burned. In conclusion, the ban will stop the two main problems that plastic bags cause.

When the single-use plastic shopping bag was introduced to consumers worldwide in the mid 1960s, a time when governments encouraged their economies into extravagant consumerist lifestyles, I doubt the general population considered the consequences these bags would have on our environment. These bags revolutionized commercial industry by providing us with lightweight, water-resistant, flexible bags for a hassle-free shopping experience. We so thoroughly adopted the practice of consumption that by 2004 an estimated 4 to 5 trillion bags were produced globally, with Northern America and Western Europe accounting for more than 80% of the use of this product (Behind the Scenes). Were the plastic bags to end up solely in landfills, they would compare better even than paper bags for their effect on the environment since neither type decomposes well in such a situation. These innocuous seeming bags, however, often times go where they should not. They can be found washed up along coastlines, tangled in tree limbs, clogged inside gutters and water outflows, wrapped around fences, and even caught in the throats of animals mistaking the bags for food. It is documented that over 267 species of animals have been found suffering from entanglement and ingestation of plastic marine debris (Ocean in peril). Every year, tens of thousands of whales, birds, seals, and turtles die from contact with ocean-borne plastic bags. Even if the bag manages to disintegrate somewhat (even though estimates place decay happening over a 1,000 year period) it poses a threat to smaller marine life that accidentally ingest toxic chemicals contained in the plastic particles. While some manufacturers have taken it upon themselves to exert an effort in reducing these environmental hazards, such as introducing bags made of biodegradable material, the “disposable” plastic shopping bag remains as one of the most epic global dilemmas of our generation.…

Ingestion, starvation, suffocation, infection, drowning, and entanglement are all types of deaths caused by plastic (The Problem of Marine Plastic Pollution). We have to make so many decisions when we are shopping that we should not have to be worried about how we will carry our things home. In 1869, the Union Company of Pennsylvania developed a better paper bag machine (Forum Garden). From that era, paper bags were used to carry groceries and small things. Of course, the consumption of goods in that time was very little compared with today. Plastic took over the market right after its invention and since 1966 plastic bags are the main bag used worldwide. Why?
