Plane Ride
MY FIRST PLANE RIDE ALONE
My internal organs thumped against my chest as I dragged my bag along the floor and into the corridor. As I walked into the hall, I glanced up and notice the sign I could get on. My entire body could barely hold itself together with the anticipation of the dream come-true event about to take place. I said to myself, “I’ll soon be in the air alone without my family”. I slowed my pace to further enjoy what was happening. Swarms of people walked around me knowing that one of my lifetime goals is now going to happen. The excitement and adrenaline running through my veins could have killed a horse. Not being able to stand such self-torture, I hurried my pace until I had unfortunately caught up with something not so pleasing, a group of old people who were walking before me. I whined in annoyance because of my instigated feeling. After waiting for an hour, the crew soon became visible to assist us walk into the plane. I felt butterflies in my belly and could not even stop grinning. As I entered the plane, I saw all the people sitting comfortably until I noticed there were some unoccupied seats. I smiled and walked towards it. I asked the flight attendant if I could sit there alone. And to her approval, I left the seat that was indicated on my plane ticket then sat on the ones I desired. While sitting beside the window, I imagined myself flying in my own plane with maids and a butler. After being so ambitious for a minute or two, one of the flight attendants walked from the back of the plane, pushing a cart full of drinks and potato chips. After asking me what I like, I bought a can of cola and a bag of Doritos then I took my IPod and earphones out of my purse. I munched on my goodies and at the same time listened to some Korean songs as we continued flying to Manila. After an hour of sitting in the plane, it was about to time to land. I took my pressed powder, liquid eyeliner, and my ice pink lipstick out and started giving myself a lovely

I woke up tired on a beautiful, sunny, Tuesday morning. It was the day I had to fly to San Francisco for my job on a cruise ship. I had been in between cruises, so I had taken the chance to come see my parents in Newark, New Jersey. Later I realized that it could have cost me dearly. I changed into my pressed, white, long sleeved shirt with khaki pants and my sailors hat that I had to wear for my job as a deckhand. I arrive at Newark Liberty International Airport a hour before my flight, where I hug my parents goodbye. I walk in and go through security easily and go to my gate and wait for thirty minutes until we would be able to board.…

For most of the 100 or so sleepy-eyed people boarding the U.S. Airways shuttle to Boston from New York on a recent hazy Saturday morning, the 35-minute flight could not have been a bigger non-event. But that was not the case for about 20 passengers clustered nervously near the gate. Many clutched puzzle books and bags of sour candy as though they held talismans. Some made nervous jokes, others sobbed quietly. “I have pills with me just in case of an emergency,” said a teenage girl who planned to distract herself on the flight with celebrity magazines. Mariasol Flouty, a 44-year-old software developer from White Plains, held fast to her Sudoku book. “I had plane-crash nightmares,” she confessed. “I woke up very tense.” No one was more terrified than Beth Brenner, a 45-year-old mother of two teenagers from Somers, N.Y. “I was hysterical last night,” she said, “but my son said, ‘You’re going to be O.K.’ ” Ms. Brenner was crying quietly on the…

When I was young I always dreamed of flying on a plane. Finally, my dream was coming true, and I was on my way to the USA where I had always known I would end up. This was my first trip on an airplane, and it was also one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I remember everything about my first flight, and it was a lot to remember since it took twenty-seven hours from start to finish. The fight did have one stop in Japan, but that was just to change planes. Once my parents and I got onto the plane and sat down, I started to look at everything around me. I noticed the small white air vents right above my head with little lights next to the vent. It was so great because the controls were right on my armrest. There was a place on the armrest to plug the headphones in in order to listen to music or watch a movie. After everyone got settled into their seats, the airhostess came over the intercom and explained all of the safety procedures. But I am going to tell you; I couldn’t understand what they say, besides staring at their body language. They also showed everyone how to put the seat belts on correctly. After the airhostess was done with…

As I walked towards Customs, I felt important as if I were the president or an ambassador. I showed my passport with pride. When the Customs agent stamped my passport, I morphed back from being president to a little child who had the golden ticket to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. After going through Customs, we proceeded to our flight gate, where I looked out the window and saw the biggest plane that I had ever seen. It amazed me how man could make something so big and heavy that could take flight and defy gravity. Gobs of people piled onto the plane. We walked in the plane, and it seemed that there was no end to the aisle of the plane. When we found our seats, my father and my mother sat next to each other while I sat by the window. The seat next to me was still vacant. I looked at every person who walked by me, wondering which one would sit down. People of all shapes and sizes passed by me. Unfortunately for me, a six-foot, seven-inch man walked by, stopped, and then came back to the seat next to me. The man looked well over two hundred pounds. He checked his ticket for the third or fourth time, and they plopped down next to me. The breeze from his hefty body had this foul smell. I cringed with discomfort, and I saw my father sneak a quick chuckle. This man was the most active sleeper ever. Every five minutes, he moved or made some kind…
