This is an example of the final exam paper for PHY3171. It is very similar in format to the real paper for 2009. (A) Describe the mechanisms that regulate arterial pressure during and after a reduction in central blood volume. Include in your answer: (i) (ii) the neural mechanisms that come into play immediately to maintain arterial pressure (short-term). (Suggested time: 10 minutes) the hormonal mechanisms that might be important over the medium-term to maintain arterial pressure and increase blood volume. (Suggested time: 10 minutes) the mechanisms that would promote recovery of blood volume over the long-term. (Suggested time: 10 minutes)

    Getting the Medical Biller and Coder position at St. Lukas Hospital would be a dream come true. My enthusiasm for this career choice comes from one particular experience where I received help from someone in this line of work. It was a typical day, I came home from work, checked the mailbox, and there it was a big fat denial from my insurance for my recent Doctor visit. Her patience and compassion for her job just blew me away and I realized then that becoming a Medical Biller and Coder was my purpose in life. I can’t wait to be the person on the other end of the phone answering someone’s questions about their claim and being able to help them like Jenelle helped me. The process of plaque lining the coronary arteries is called arteriosclerosis. Coronary heart disease can be caused and triggered by many different factors. These include: Smoking; lifetime smoking roughly doubles your risk of developing heart disease because the chemicals in tobacco get into the bloodstream from the lungs and they damage the blood vessels and other parts of the body. It is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular disease; High blood pressure; the blood pressure can become dangerous the higher it gets. An increased of blood pressure is an increase of the force of blood against the walls of the arteries and the higher the blood pressure the higher the likelihood the walls of the arteries can become damaged. This can lead to stiffness of the arteries making them less flexible which can lead to the build-up of cholesterol, even after being used on cells the extra gets deposited inside the artery wall lining which can lead to atherosclerosis and this can occur from unhealthy diet intake. Your blood pressure and cholesterol level are also important. All people aged over 40 should have a cardiovascular health risk assessment’ usually available at your GP surgery. If you have a high risk of developing cardiovascular disease, treatment to reduce high blood pressure (hypertension) and/or cholesterol may be advised.
