Persuasive Essay On Un-Bias In News
Un-bias news source: is there such a thing? Today, it seems as if every major news network is being labeled as bias. In addition, news organizations and corporations are constantly jumping through hoops to deem their selves worthy of reporting honest, un-bias news. The more trust they earn, the more ratings they get. For instance, one of the most popular names in news, CNN, has been trying to hold true to their slogan, “The Most Trusted Name in News” for decades. Despite their efforts to promote themselves as being a reliable source, many have criticized them for being liberally bias. Another well known news organization, NPR, has been recently under fire for being liberally bias as well. NPR, otherwise known as national public radio, has always been capitalizing on the fact that they are a public organization rather than a corporate company. In the case of NPR’s weather report, there was more convenience for the audience because they reported local weather. On the other hand, CNN reported the weather for the entire country. This can be extremely inconvenient for the viewers because they would have to sit and wait until their weather for their part of the country is shown. For sports, both CNN and NPR reported the sports that would be most popular among viewers; such as basketballs March madness. It is inevitable to watch or listen to something without commercial advertising interfering. During CNN “Headline News, they play commercials every 10 minutes. The commercials on the CNN television network makes a person want to change the channel. There are ads about insurance, medicine, cars, and so on. NPR however, only advertises companies that sponsor and contribute NPR. They only mention a few organizations and that’s it. This makes it easier for the listener to stay tuned for more news.
