Denounce Bias In The Media
“A Billion Cases of Rape Occur Each Day!” Imagine a news headline with that as the title. The initial absurdity of this claim would soon enough result in a deafening outcry by the public with fear and fury running rampant. Currently, the media has such a powerful influence on the public that with a single line of text the nation could be sent into anarchy. With no means to slow the speed at which the media can spread information, fraudulent news can quickly influence the public. A similar scenario is possible if the media neglects to pursue objectivity and denounce bias. Therefore, the media is in fact a problem in modern society and should be expected to strive to be as objective as possible in order to halt its influence on bad policy making,

Joel Brind (Source B) goes over this persistent denial over scientific facts involving the abortion-breast cancer link, otherwise known as the ABC-link. He describes the “ new studies documenting the reality of the ABC link” that have occurred in many countries, mostly mainland China and Iran. However, what is most notable about these studies is that Western Journalists are persistent in denying the studies that consistently show the reality and danger of the ABC link. The eastern and western hemispheres have very different cultures, with the West always regarding itself as more advanced. Iran, for example, is a theocracy, and China, although an economic superpower, is known to oppress its people. However these are scientific studies with backing from the scientists in both hemispheres. The studies are only acknowledged in the Eastern Hemisphere though. Brind mentions liberals such as Ohlheiser that believe that studies on the ABC-link were only created because people wanted to remove Roe v. Wade. However, research first started in 1957 in the “prestigious Japanese Journal of Cancer Research.” Therefore, it could be argued that the ABC-link is censored in the West because of the liberal agenda to completely legalize abortion. Furthermore, articles such as the one Brind published are usually tabooed because people do not want to hear opposing viewpoints. Articles on against abortion receive a huge negative backlash from the public that most of the time they are either removed or censored. Now one must ask themselves, “Is the West really free and safe?” If information showing that women with abortions have a “6-fold increased risk for breast cancer” is suppressed, what else is? People want to follow their beliefs and conservatives are usually blamed as not following the facts. On the other hand, people such as Ohlheiser are never questioned on credibility.
