A congress that allows the President to permit the public to kill hibernating bears and wintering wolves are ignorant and vile people. Truly. I really wanted to make these letters respectful but, this is out of control… Literally. What is it going to take to get politicians to take the natural environment (which even you live in) seriously? Mass extinction? That’s what you’re asking for with this! Undrinkable surface and ground waters? We already have hundreds of thousands of impaired waterways throughout the US and one of them is less than a mile from my apartment. In fact, the waterway in Pecan Park is so contaminated that the dogs at my complex drink it and within less than a day begin projectile vomiting. When I reported it to local authorities…

The largest wolf pack in the world is the Druid wolf pack. One of the reasons why I don't want wolves to be hunted is because in 1934 the wolves in Wisconsin almost became extinct. Wolves can help injured or diseased animals. Wolves even help the ecosystem…

Trophy hunting of lions is a sensitive topic with controversial undertones due to the players involved. Most of the world’s lions can be found in Africa, and it is here that these hunting safaris take place. Large portions of the people that participate in these expeditions are American citizens, and the trophies are exported back to their home country. The African lion has not yet been placed on the endangered list on the US Fish and Wildlife Services (Flocken). There are various schools of thought on whether or not lion-hunting is counterproductive towards conservation efforts. The number of lions worldwide (especially in Africa) continues to dwindle each year. There is concern that trophy-hunting is an important contributing factor. There…

When you think of lions, you probably think of them being king of the savannah, right? However, it’s not easy being king. Over the past 50 years Africa’s lion population has plummeted from over 200,000 individuals back in the 1960′s to fewer than 25,000 today. A shocking number if you consider the size of that continent, and by far the greatest number of remaining lion populations are small, scattered, and highly vulnerable. Ghana, Coted’Ivoire, and Congo are the latest African countries added to long list that have lost all their lions, and Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda predict local extinctions in the next ten years. The population of the African Lion is decreasing because of trophy hunting and habitat destruction. However, you can help save the African Lion.…
