Imagine floating on a block of ice thats melting, in the middle of the arctic ocean with nothing around you. How about spending time with your family, on a submarine exploration of downtown Miami. Do these two scenarios sound appealing to you? I hope not. These two scenarios could eventually turn into reality. PowerPlanet power plants are filling our air with pollution. This air pollution is causing a domino effect that melts ice caps, which kills arctic species by destroying their habitats and it also raising our sea levels to dangerous levels. Air pollution from PowerPlanet power plants are melting ice caps which destroy arctic animal habitats, which in return is killing the arctic species. Ice caps are sheets of ice that make up polar and sub-polar regions. Now with rising temperatures in the poles the ice caps melt and break off from the main lands. This will keep pushing animals inland, shrinking their habitable zone. WIth the shrinking of arctic animals’ habitat it drives them together which is not good for smaller animals who are prey to dominant species like polar bears. Ice caps can also seclude animals. Instead of you being on the block of ice, suppose it was a cute little arctic fox …show more content…
It is just like a cup of soda with ice. Over time the ice melts into the soda which make the soda watered down. The same rules apply; the ice caps are the ice and the ocean is the soda. The ice caps break off from the mainland, then drop into the ocean and melt, adding more water. Sea levels rise about .13 inches a year according to the National Geographic website. That does not sound to alarming does it? Well over the past century the ocean has rose 4 to 8 feet. Also the CBS Miami website says with the way sea levels are rising not just Miami, but all of south florida will be under water by 2025.
