Adopting a dog is a good idea and buying a dog can create more damage. In the past years the numbers for dogs on the streets have increased significantly. Most of the time the reason that a dog is left on the street is because the owner can no longer take care of it. Owners or future owners of dogs should be informed about adoption, puppy mills, and quality dogs breeders. When someone adopts a pet they are saving the life of a dog that will be grateful to them for the rest of it life. Dogs in shelter deserve a second chance. According to the American Humane Association “… an estimated 3.7 million unwanted pets must be euthanized at animal shelters every year—many because they could not fin families to adopt them.” It’s very sad to hear this because many people won’t typically adopt because most dogs in shelters are older. The reality is when this people get a dog many of the dogs can or will end up in shelters. Getting a pet should not be an easy decision. The owner must truly have time and money to spend on the dog. A personal experience I had with a dog shelter is when my husky was taken to one. One day a neighbor called animal control because there was a random dog roaming the streets. I was outside playing

Most puppies sold at pet stores come from a puppy mill. At puppy mills dogs only have one purpose to make profit. The people who have puppy mills never think about the dogs. These places are usually very dirty and inhabitable. They put the dogs in cages one on top of each other. The dogs are kept and breed in wire cages most of the times. That means that the dogs in the bottom cages get feces on their furs from the dogs on the top cages. The dogs fur gets matted and the caged are never cleaned. Their drinking water is discussing and they get little to eat. The dogs that the puppy mill breeder uses to breed never comes out of the cage. They are born in cages and never have the chance to even touch
