If there is a busy schedule between both parents during the day, Fridays off for students will help parents work and not worry about their kids if their kids were to go to a family member's house or sleep over a friend's house. Parents will save money if students go to their family or friends house instead of the parents hiring a baby sitter. A four day school week may come in handy if you have the entire Friday off to schedule appointments with doctors or dentists. If there was a Friday a student was taken out of school to go to the dentist, but the dentist was packed, he would be late to go back to school. Four day school weeks may alter that a little, say on a normal Friday, that the dentist would be full of students, but if there was no school on Friday, then there would be any line to wait in, and no rush to get back to school before school is over. The other upside of having Fridays off is that parents can do errands with out interruptions. If students have Fridays off, they can go to a friend's house so that their parents can run errands without interruption. According to Jami Dow, a mother who moved to Hot Springs, South Dakota ( a district that has a four day school week) three years ago to be closer to her parents, said, "Many families use the extra day to schedule doctor and dentist…

Some people claim that it will raise scores because of the idea students will be more attentive in school, thus increasing their intellect. Despite these claims, the test scores of students do not significantly increase or decrease. Similar to Beesley and Anderson 's suggestion, it seems that schools save money while maintaining comparable test scores. (The Four-Day School Week: Information and Recommendations, pg. 26). Overall, it seems as though the benefits of a four-day school week are strong enough for it to pull through despite the fact it doesn 't dramatically increase test…

If four day weeks were introduced to schools, the students and schools will both benefit. The schools will save a significant amount of money and students will excel academically and behavior will improve drastically. Whenever we have a student/teacher holiday, less students are absent and behave because they are looking forward to less days of the week. When students have less days to worry about, it will make them work harder so they can finish of the week sooner.…

For three nights a week American’s gather around the TV, grab finger foods, and watch players of the National Football League put their skills to work. While viewers seem to never tire of the multiple night event for thirteen weeks straight, critics argue the NFL needs to ex one of these nights completely. The recent controversy concerning Thursday Night Football is best handled through elimination. Elimination of the extra night of playing time as a whole solves concerns of injury, not enough preparation time for each game, and brand saturation. Many players, coaches, and fans have spoken out about their opinions concerning this issue, yet the biggest common issue remains as the extra risk of injury Thursday Night Football offers. Moreover, Thursday Night Football simply offers more for coaches to complain about and less time for teams to prepare for each game (Brown np).…

Should public schools be scheduled to be opened all year round? Students would hopefully approve. Public schools should have a system where schools shall be open for a short while, and it shall gain extended normal weekends. Year-round schooling has many beneficial advantages to schools who don’t have this. To start off, “students would have a higher chance of remembering what they were taught” (Scherman). In addition, students will have a positive attitude when going to school. Lastly, having frequent breaks will allow the students’ and the teacher’s mindset to recharge or to cool off.…

Many parents use summer activities as childcare while they are working. Such as summer camps. But when the students are out on break when these camps are not in session, parents would be forced to find other child care at a costly price (“Year Round Schools Pros and Cons”). Year round schooling could also interfere with these camps. So students would not be able to attend camps such as boy scouts, girl scouts, and enrichment camps that they may use in their future lives because they would be in school. Another problem is that parents and families reject the year-round schooling and the schools lose the cooperation of the families. Year round schooling also makes it difficult to plan summer vacations or even to find family time. The students must constantly be worrying about homework after school and also want to hang out with friends. This causes them to spend less and less time with their parents and siblings. This family time is very important for the student and the families health. Students need the support and guidance of their family to stay on the right track and do the right things. Lots of family time comes during summer break. When the students don’t have to worry about homework and can hang out with their friends during the day and then spend time with their families at night ("Year-Round School Pros and Cons."). If we take away this summer break students and family would not be spending enough quality family time together without missing school and this is not good for their well-being or their…

The fact that such a theory can exist, that is backed by scientific data is outrageous. It shows that the state is more interested in saving money, then not only caring for its teachers but allowing the students be more successful. To allow teachers to do their job correctly the state should also raise the annual salary of teachers, such that they are not required to hold down multiple jobs and allow them more time to plan their main workday. If they don't have another job on the side then one can be sure that they have financial problems that they must worry about, instead of how their next work day may go. Jim Horn in his article 62 percent of teachers work two jobs states, “Sixty-two percent work outside the classroom to make ends meet. Some people that might not like the schedule change, would be parents. Some parents could think, that this could be the best thing, or the worst thing to happen. Some might not like it because, of the change. Parents don’t usually like change, they genuinely don’t want their children to have it harder on themselves then it already was before. Parent might not also like how the school year would still have nine week quarters, but then followed with three weeks of break. On the other hand, parents might also like it. Why parents might like it would be, that their child would not cause that much trouble around the house, or on the street. It really goes both ways in this situation, and it depends on what kind of parent you talk to.…
