Water is necessary for life to survive. About 3/4s of the Earth’s surface is populated with water. Despite how much water there is on Earth we cannot use all of it. Ocean water is contaminated with many items that aren’t edible to humans. There are water filters that will remove most of these contaminants but, they are usually pricey. In the West Coast of America, we live next to the Pacific Ocean which contains most of the water on Earth. Why are we in a drought despite promising facts? The reason is despite an abundance of water on Earth, we have access to merely one per cent of all the water on the Earth’s surface. The rest of the freshwater is hidden in ice caps or somewhere deep underground. The remaining salt water which is 97.5% of the water on Earth can have the salt removed but, the process is costly and challenging.
