Personal Statement Essay: Why I Want To Work With Animals
Time has a wonderful way of showing us what matters, for me all through out the years one thing in particular always grabbed my attention; working with animals. In my academic career along with doing various organizations such as national honor society, phi theta kappa, and varsity softball; which gave me life skills to carry with me in future endeavors, while striving to be a part of things that lead me closer to my goals and interests. Such as participating in organizations such as FFA and Tejas Riders equestrian leadership team, has lead me to many of my hobbies and my future career goals of owning my own ranch and veterinary clinic.

In the program girls of all ages and skill levels ride on a drill team, while also helping run a girl lead organization at Camp Better Perot teaching younger girl scouts about horse safety and coaching them in their riding skills. In this program I learned more about what it took to care for animals along with getting a look into how the ranch ran. The “equestrian program manger” a close friend of mine has a vetwrinary tech degree, and I got to experience first hand minor surgeries and gain knowledge how to diagnose and treat ailness’s. Growing up in this environment of working with horses and doing small vet work has given me a taste of my future career. Learning how animals and humans truly work on the inside and getting to know the science behind it is truly interesting, and applying that to my interest in horse back riding and ranch management, is a work that will surely keep my attention as I keep digging into the …show more content…
One aspect at the ranch in particular has driven my goals of having my own. While I hope to run my own veterinary clinic, I want to do more surrounding that. At Camp Bette Perot we take in “donation horses” to keep our quota of horses up, some of the horses we receive haven’t had a picturesque past. Moreover, some horses we take in need special care and attention to mold them into what we need for our program. I’ve spent my childhood and early adult life watching horses that have been very timid and some unruly; thought to not have a purpose become the best “kid horse” of all. I want to be able to take in way ward animals along with other livestock, and rehabilitate them so they can go out into the world and have a purpose, whether it be to do work on a ranch like mine, or be a safe companion for a
