Personal Narrative: My High School Life
We have all been that high school student rushing from class to class. Graduating from Middleton High School has taught me how to live the high school life. I have been a student in the classroom, an athlete on the field, and a social bug in my community. Even though I come from a town in little old Middleton Idaho that only has one stop light, high school has been one of my greatest experience. I was an average academic student all thought out my high school career.
As a student I maintained a 3.5 GPA from freshman year to my senior year. I always received A’s, B’s, and very few C’s. I was always engaging myself in the classroom and in labs. I also took it upon myself to take duel credits through The College of Western Idaho. I graduated high school with 12-15 credits under my belt and a GPA of 3.85 from the college. Having good grades and going above and beyond in high school always allowed me to be a part of sports all year round.

One of my many happy memories was when I was little and trying each and every sport possible, even wrestling. I have always been active throughout high school playing soccer, basketball, and running track. I was a four year varsity athlete for track & field, along with one year of varsity soccer. Unfortunately I did not play basketball my senior year because of the head coach so I never got to letter. I went to state track for the 4x400m my freshman and sophomore year, which happens to be one of my favorite memories. Being in sports allowed me to make multiple friends while in

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

Walking into my honors English class my eleventh grade year, I felt as if it would be a breeze. Thinking back to the previous year to when I constantly maintained an “A+” and without hesitation I knew that any test, quiz, or writing prompt I was destined for an “A.” It was until now sobbing in a big puddle of salty water I knew for a fact I was doomed. Although I had never really thought into what karma was and what it really meant. It was my eleventh grade year in high school it had finally caught up to me.…

During my freshman year of high school I received a letter in the mail. This letter was an invitation to play basketball in Australia, with other boys and girls of my age. The date was September 13, 2011. The letter stated that we would be leaving June 1, of 2012. Of course I wanted to go as soon as I read the letter, but my family was more curious about the trip. We did some research and figured out everything that would be offered on this trip. In my research I read of playing Australian basketball games, snorkeling, swimming in the ocean, surfing, and spending three days on Tangalooma Island. This was enough to convince my family that it would indeed be a fun trip for me to attend.…

By the end of second semester, I had a 3.5 GPA. Considering I was an athlete, I felt proud of my ability to balance the responsibilities of school with homework, projects, etc, work, late-exhausting nights, and being an athlete, dealing with my teammates and my coaches expecting so much from me. It was all worth it at the end of the season and at the end of the school…

In four years when I read this I honestly won’t be surprised if nothing really changes. I can’t see myself changing in any major ways. I sure I will still not understand the point of reading books for school and writing long papers about things that I don’t exactly care or relate to me. Although, in order for this letter to do it’s job in four years I need to start from the beginning.…

My middle school years are very rough. Starting in 6th grade, I had drama all the time. Of course I never won the popularity test, so if being left out was a constant for me. I could be sitting by five girls and they would completely ignore me. In the mornings before school our lunch lady, use to sell breakfast burritos for all of the kids who got to school early. Every morning I would go and get a burrito, and every morning I would sit by myself and eat it. I remember telling my dad about all the drama and he told me that you are who you surround yourself with so I took his advice and I didn't talk to any of the girls that left me out at all. I would go out of my way to pretend they didn't exist and it helped. That was the first time I found…

While walking around a college campus, one might hear numerous things, especially different accents/languages. Most of the time hearing someone speak a different language steers a person in the opposite direction. Why? Simply because of the few questions that float in an individual’s mind. “Will they understand me?” “Do they speak English?” “Will I understand them?” I wanted to break this wall down between foreign entities and myself, and my plan went according to the task.…
