Personal Statement: A Career As A Nursing Assistant
When you ask a child, “What do you want to be when you grow up”, you tend to get a different answer each time. This was not the case with me! For as long as I can remember I said, without hesitation” I will be a nurse, I want to help others”. So it came with no surprise that I graduated from Nursing School in 1993. In 1996 my family moved to the United States, it took me a few years to get my nurses license here, but I never gave up. While I was going through the process of obtaining my nurses license I started working as a nursing assistant. In 2000 I was able to earn my registered nurse license in Maryland. In 2012 I injured my right shoulder at work. To date I’m still not able to use my right arm for much of anything. With that I have come to the

I always shied away, mainly because of the cost. The biggest obstacle in adjusting my career path is that I need to have an advanced nursing degree to be able to stay in the medical field. I have looked into non-medical careers but have not been able to find anything that would interested me. Since I have not been able to work I feel more comfortable, and that this is the right time, to invest in my future. I have always put going back to school on the back burner, I was more concerned about my children’s needs. I have been looking into colleges that offer online advanced nursing degrees for a few years .This search has let me to your school. Researching on line and being in contact with my advisor I feel that your program is a good fit for me. Nursing schools in Germany are all run by the hospitals and are diploma programs. That has been a big hurdle for me. I have been having trouble to get all my transcripts, some of my schools have closed and others have moved and the documents have been misplaced. I’m not giving up trying to get all the documents needed together, or if I can’t, see what I will have to do to move
