For me, I plan to stay organized, remain focused on my goals in life, and achieve college success once again by graduating with honors. Being held accountable is answering for a one’s mistake. For example, if you were to borrow a friend’s car and you damaged the car in any way possible, you would then be held liable for the cost to fix what was damaged. The way that I would determine if the sources are reliable and relevant is by verifying the author. I would select at least one document that has been peer reviewed. According to University of Phoenix University Library Interactive Tutorial (2012), “Peer reviewed documents have been reviewed by at least one expert before publication. It focuses on scholarly material and usually contains extensive discussion of: research methods used by the author; substantial statistical analysis; extensive list of works cited at the end of the article or text”. The fact that an expert has reviewed the data would give me an acceptance of the information that has been published. When documents are peer reviewed it would decrease the chances of the author being able to successfully convey any sort of bias or slant on the information submitted.…

Personal responsibility requires one to finally accept the truth that you are responsible for your own actions. Most of the time when mistakes are made, the initial reaction is to point a finger or find an excuse rather than accept involvement. Personal responsibility is the key to College success because at times, most students find themselves falling short of what lies in between these two. Some examples of are turning in homework assignments at the last minute, running late for class, and cramming for a test. As noted by Sullivan (2011), “Personal change also requires the right timing. Just because you do not understand another perspective or have not developed a particular skill, practice, or ability does not mean you never will (, p.27).” When an individual takes personal responsibility for their actions, it can help clarify which life goals are most important and the means to achieve college success by understanding that our values support how we go about making decisions.…

Personal responsibility is the key to personal, professional and academic success because it cannot be achieved by anyone else. We cannot decide which obstacles life will through our way, only how we respond to those obstacles. It is these choices in response to such obstacles that shape our lives and determine our ability to succeed. For that reason we must think carefully before deciding on a course of action. One should consider a course that is in line with their personal, academic, and professional goals in order to keep on track. It is my opinion that we each decide what we make out of our lives. Either we choose to use each obstacle as an excuse for failure or we can choose to accept personal responsibility, take appropriate action, and live a better life.…

“He who devotes sixteen hours a day to study hard may become as wise at sixty as he thought himself at twenty” – Mary Wilson Little. Effective study habits are essentials in achieving excellent marks in school. For a student like me, it plays an important role in our learning process. But to give sixteen hours a day is little hard because earth rotates 24 hours a day only. It is not like that we will sit in a chair and study for the entire day. That is why I posted my daily time schedule on our wall to manage my time everyday and allot moments for studying and doing assignments. I’m trying to be more organized but honestly, my allotted time in studying is sometimes corrupted. Aside from that, I have a small notebook where my daily assignments are written. While in the class, I am writing down new assignments and upcoming tests in that notebook so that I will not be able to forget doing it. When I come home from school, I will not have to search through all of our lecture notes to find assignments because it is listed together in the same place. When I have accomplished the task, I will put a check beside it. I am keeping an eye on big assignments or the hardest homework and those that consume longer time. I prefer to study in a quiet area so that I am concentrated and work it fast. I avoid distractions such as facebook, television, cellphone and music. Some people can work better with music but I can’t. If there is extra time left, I read chapters in advance because it is better if I am not doing it under the deadline pressure. Finally, I review our previous lessons or just think about what I have learned on that day before going to bed.…

If you don’t learn accountability I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to take responsibility for your actions. You cannot achieve any professional or personal worthwhile goal if you don’t hold yourself accountable.…
