Personal Reflective Essay
My motivation for being in school is I want to be able to give my kids a good life. I want them to have the things that I wasn’t able to have when I was growing up. I don’t want them to ever have to worry about not having new school clothes, new shoes, or the toys that they want. I don’t believe I will be able to help them much with a minimum wage job. That is where college comes in. With a good degree, I will be able to have that extra money for my children and I will be able to create a good life for myself and my family.
Going to school on top of everyday life can be challenging, especially if you have children. Thankfully Community Care College offers online classes so you can go to school from home. It is an effective way to learn on your own time and it’s an easier way to learn for people who have small children.
My biggest challenge after college will be getting a job and having to find a way to get my kids to and from school/daycare, to be able to get myself to work on time and to be able to get off work on time to pick them up before the school and daycare closes. The daycare has a way to pick up my two kids from school to take them to the daycare which is a major plus. Thankfully I have my husband to help with that as well.
My future career plan is to become an expert in my career field. I want to be able to learn new things and to make a difference at my job. I want to have the dedication and the motivation to gain more experience, learn new skills, and grow along with the company.
My uplifting advice would be that things happen for a reason and the struggles I am having are not as big as they seem. I need to trust this process because everything is working out in my favor and they are making me stronger. If I think negatively then I will have a negative outcome. You must always believe that things will work out for the best so you will get a positive outcome.

In this task I will be reflecting upon an incident undertaken on area of my work. The model of reflection I’ve chosen is Gibbs (1988), which involves reflection on the description, feelings, evaluation, conclusion and action plan (Gibbs 1988). The Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle is fairly straightforward and encourages a clear description of the situation, analysis of feelings, evaluation of the experience, analysis to make sense of the experience, conclusion where other options are considered and reflection upon experience to examine what you would do if the situation arose again. The procedure in which I will be reflecting upon is Last offices; I chose this due to how constructive and valuable it was in my personal and professional development as a student practitioner nurse.…

Going to college has always been a goal to myself. Personally, it means more than expecting to get a good job with a high earning potential. It means the opportunity to develop myself as a person and become a valued member of society. It means, that as the oldest brother and first generation in my family with the possibility to attend college, setting an example for my younger siblings about how to shape your own path and break that mindset of “do what you have to do” and replacing it with one which says, “do something that makes you happy.”…

I feel the most important reasons for me to go to college is making my whole family proud of me and becoming a better role model for my daughter. After I graduated high school I made the decision to not go to college, and get straight to working. My family was disappointed that I made that decision. I went to work for my family’s business and thought that I would have a good and stable career for life. I know that once I get my degree that I will make them proud. My daughter is now 6 months old and hopefully she will realize it is easier to attend college earlier in life. I think that trying to attend college at the age of 31, is twice the struggle than going to college right after graduating high school. It is twice the struggle because you have to relearn the basic school concepts that you already have fresh in your…

The abilities an individual possesses are an accumulation of their previous life experiences and the various competences which have been practiced for many years. Often times, these skills are overlooked and taken for granted as we never actually think about them in terms of their effect on our potential career choices. After thinking about my personal skills, I compiled a list which included; communication, cooperation, patience, listening, helping others and perseverance; all skills which I have possessed for majority of my lifetime and have used to overcome many challenges. One example in particular which required me to draw on many of these skills, was fairly recently; I am a dance instructor for children ages four to seven and there was a young boy who joined the class later than the rest of the students. I noticed that he was struggling…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…
