Personal Narrative: When I Quit School
One rainy school morning, when I wake up to get ready for school, I decide to come up with a plan to quit school. You see, I absolutely despise school. It is my least favorite thing in the world. I know “I have” to go but I just can’t anymore. The homework is too much, the waking up early is too much, and the teachers are too much. This is why I need to come up with a plan to quit school. After school, I go home and sit in my bed and think of my plan. Stage 1- Before I go to bed I make sure my bike is outside Stage 2- I have to pack everything I will need for my plan. Stage 3- When I wake up I am going to tell my mom that I am going to ride my bike to school. Stage 4- I will adventure through the towns of New Jersey. This plan is perfect! …show more content…
I looked at my phone and it said that it was 8AM. This means school just started and my plan had worked. FIve minutes later, RING RING! RING RING! Oh no. The school called my mom. I answer the phone. “Hello?” My mom starts off talking calmly, but as I explain her voice gets angrier. I’m starting to get nervous. I told her where I was and she told me to start riding back. Instead of riding back, I went to my friends house because right next to her house is an ice cream place. I know if I ride back, my mom will make me go to school. That is not happening. I walked into the ice cream place and BAM! My friends mom is standing right there as if she were waiting for me. She comes up to me and starts asking me why I’m not in school. I act normal and say we “had off.” Next thing you know my mom is texting me and now she’s coming to get me. My plan is ruined!! I can’t go to school. I get ice cream and wait for my mom to get here. 2 hours later, I’m still sitting here waiting for my mom. Maybe she’s gonna let me win? I get on my bike and start riding home. I go over the bridge and down some streets and I’m home! When I get inside, no one is there. Now, I

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

The story started when one night I snuck out of my house to go to a party, as a result, that night I slept over at a friend’s house and found a ride home the next morning. When the car pulled into the driveway the morning after, I thanked the driver and walked up to my front porch with a sly smile to greet my obviously frustrated parents. As my mom ushered me to sit down on one of the chairs on our front porch, I know that nothing good is going to…

It was a bright sunny Wednesday afternoon and I was walking towards my car. I got out of class early and was heading home to get myself ready to spend time with my bright and intelligent students. Sometimes when I get out of class my body feels overwhelmed and tired. Perhaps it feels this way because of all the things that are going on in my life like family, friendship, relationship, community service, and homework assignments. I feel like I am very busy that I often do not have time for myself. However when I arrived to El Jardin that quickly changes. The students that I work with on Wednesday fill my life with positive attitude and energy that I often forget about the worries and stress that I encounter during the day. I really love my Wednesday shift more than my Tuesday shift because I have a stronger connection and attachment towards the two girls that I work with. On Wednesday’s, I work with two bright and intelligent 6th grade girls named Arisa and Janet. Both of them have special qualities and a sweet kind heart.…

My decision to go back to school will cause sacrifices to me, my family and my friends (Bethel University, 2013). All of these sacrifices are worth the goal. My family and friends know my goals, and we have discussed this process in length. I will try to complete my coursework during my down time so that it doesn't effect these relationships, but everyone knows that there may be times that I have to miss something for school. I believe my attending school will be much like my job. There are times that I have to miss family or friend activities for work, but everyone understands because I never use work for an excuse to miss such an event. My wife knows that if I say I have to go to work, that it is a necessity. She will also know the…

It’s a Friday,” says my mom. She asked me to go to with her to work this Friday to help out with the staff after school. I roll my eyes, annoyed by even the idea of going to that old boring mental institution. I sigh. I don't have a choice when it comes to me and my mother. “It sounds like so much fun,” I say sarcastically. “Sarah, you’ll be fine,” replys my mom. I ignore her and go to school.…

It was one of those beautiful August morning, the kids had just started school. Suddenly I found myself with a lot of time on my hands. I decided to go back to work only to realize that as I was busy raising the Children, the world had moved on without me. I could not perform the normal simple tasks that used to be easy, everything had changed .from new and improved syringe’s, to new charting systems. Technology in hospitals and even modern health care offices has evolved tremendously and is still evolving. Before I knew it, I was thinking of going back to school. This would not only help me with all the modern technological changes, but it would also improve our financial stability while making me more marketable, and knowledgeable by gaining…

I got out of the car and apologized. She said it was fine every single kid does something like this. My mom gave her my purse so she can get the coins. When she was done getting all of the coins out of my purse she gave it back to me and told me, “Jessenia there’s no reason for you to be crying.” And she wiped the tears off my face. My mom said, “I’m really sorry Janet, Well we have to go because I have to go pick up Jacky and Ashley. We walked to the car and drove to my uncle’s house to pick up my sisters and drove back home. As I was getting dropped off and hearing my mom telling me bye I started to cry. Being really close to my mom I didn't want her to leave me there all alone. So we walked in together and she told me that I was going to be all right. My mom and my new teacher, Mrs. Fossum were having a hard time getting me to stay there. After they saw that I wouldn't stay, my mom had to stay there with me thru out that whole day. As the first day went on I was making a bunch of friends with my new classmates. When the second day came I wanted my mom to stay at school but I realized that she had to go to work. After she had left I saw a table that had some crayons and some paper on it, so I ventured over to it and stood by the seat watching to see if anyone was going to stop me from drawing. No one came so I took a seat, a piece of paper, and of course a blue coloring pencil just like the one I had at home and started to draw. When the other children saw that I was already hard at work with my drawing, which somewhat looked like a cow, they came and sat down with me. Even the child that didn’t want to leave his father noticed me and…

I said I'm not going back to school. You can do what you want to do, but I'm not going back to chool," she said. "So shut up." It was the first time she ever told me to shut up. It sounded terrible. God, it sounded terrible. It sounded worse than swearing. She still wouldn't look at me either, and every time I sort of put my hand on her shoulder or something, she wouldn't let me. "Listen, do you want to go for a walk?" I asked her. "Do you want to take a walk down to the zoo? If I let you not go back to school this afternoon and go for walk, will you cut out this crazy stuff?" She wouldn't answer me, so I said it over again. "If I let you skip school this afternoon and go for a little walk, will you cut out the crazy stuff? Will you go back to school tomorrow like a good girl?" "I may and I may not," she said. Then she ran right the hell across the street, without even looking to see if any cars were coming. She's a madman sometimes. I didn't follow her, though. I knew she'd follow me, so I started walking downtown toward the zoo, on the park side of the street, and she started walking downtown on the other goddam side of the street, She wouldn't look over at me at all, but I could tell she was probably watching me out of the corner of her crazy eye to see where I was going and all. Anyway, we kept walking that way all the way to the zoo. The only thing that bothered me was when a double-decker bus came along because then I couldn't see across the street and I couldn't see where the hell she was. But when we got to the zoo, I yelled over to her, "Phoebe! I'm going in the zoo! C'mon, now!" She wouldn't look at me, but I could tell she heard me, and when I started down the steps to the zoo I turned around and saw she was crossing the street and following me and all. There weren't too many people in the zoo because it was sort of a lousy day, but there were a few around the sea lions' swimming pool and all. I started to go by but old Phoebe stopped and made out she…

“No please don’t make me go back!” I am yelling to my mom, as my salty tears penetrate my make-up and cause it to run down my face. “I hate it, that school is the worst!” “Honey, it is already half way through the school year, you can’t switch school this late in the year.” As my mom says the words I can hear the nonexistence care in her voice. Why does she want me to stay in this school? Doesn’t she realize that just four short months ago I was a “plain Jane” thirteen year old and now I’ve turned into a make-up palate with bones. The pressure of this “prep” school has turned me into this! I feel like just a skeleton of my former self, and I don’t quite know how it happened.…

‘’Not now’’ said my mom I have lesson plans for my school class and I need to make sure I know what to do tomorrow so that my class goes well. My heart sank so deep into an abyss. I felt the dark soft shadows creep up my spine and whisper in my ear It’s over you will starve. After that I ran upstairs and sat in my room for a while and stared at my posters as a sign of true disappointment. For what seemed like hours after hours after hours I started to crawl under my bed and squeeze my growling stomach tight.…
