Personal Narrative: What Happened When People Die
What happened when people die? Some people say that they go to heaven or hell, others say that they enter the reincarnation circle and others say that there's nothing after we die. Honestly, I was never a religious person but I still somewhat believed in God, I really liked reading lots of fantasy books about other worlds, and somehow I came to accept that there has to be something after we die, but I didn't know what, until now.

The day started fairly normal, I woke up to the sound of my annoying alarm. Since I finished high school recently, I decided that I need a job so that I can sustain myself and to not keep bothering my parents for money for everything I wanted. I don't about other but honestly, I don't like asking my parents for money. Anyway, back to what I was saying, so I decided that I need a job, and I found one which looked promising.

What happened that changed my destiny was on the way to the interview. I was walking to the company building, it was actually a fairly big company. When I got there and found a seat to wait to be let in for the interview an earthquake started happening. It was quite a powerful one, if I was to estimate how powerful is, I would say that it would be around 5~6 on Richter scale. Thirty seconds after the earthquake started I was above me a piece of

You know all of that and even promised to protect my parents if I pass your test, so I can only think of you as some deity or something similar," without breaking eye contact I waited for her answer which again came almost instantly, if I didn't know I would have thought that she already knew what I was going to ask beforehand, "Because I know, and for your question, I'm the Goddess of Life and Death, Runja," it would be a lie to say that I wasn't surprised by what she told because I

Growing up, I noticed a lot of discussion about financial problems between my parents. It’s not that we were becoming poor, it was because of our growing family needing more supplies. My mother just gave birth to my little brother when I started noticing the financial issues my family were facing. As a little girl, I do not know how our finances worked all I knew was many bills were due and I knew it because when I was a little girl I liked to practice reading and those bill statements were the papers that attracted my interest due to its colorful paper.…

As my younger cousin, Travis, walked into the living room of my house, he looked for interesting things he could look at and touch. He started to slowly walk toward the broken, bottom half of our entertainment center. My siblings and I, enjoying our Thanksgiving dinner, watched him carefully as he curiously reached for a handle of one drawer in the entertainment center that contained at least 50 movies. He was so close to opening it when my brother exclaimed, “Careful there! The last guy who did that… he died!” Travis slowly backed away, turned around, and ran to his mother, but the real question is Who died?…

“We all stray from time to time….and when you do, OWN IT! If you deny it….you are giving up control again.” This can teach a lesson to people struggling with drugs and alcohol. If you deny that you have a problem, you will continue to let these things control your life, but if you own up to it, you can help yourself or get help from others. The quote, from the “I don’t know the Bible…” paragraph, “‘Well done, my good and faithful servant,”’ reflects what I believe in and what I have learned. Growing up I heard many people tell me, “God first, others second, and yourself last.” First of all, these two quotes are telling me to live a faithful life by putting God first. Also, to put others before me and serve them just like Jesus did.…

Today is one of those rare days in which it is raining and I’m sitting on the windowsill waiting for a sign. Something that says ‘move on’. There is still a part of me that hopes every day that you're alive and I haven't found you yet. I will have searched the far corners of the earth before I let myself believe you dead. I dream of you every night, then wake with the bitter taste of regret fresh in my mouth. You abandoned me. You have marooned me on this earth, and it is dark without your light by my side. All that fills my mind is when you were still beside me. I distinctly recall one summer when we were not quite children anymore and still too young to be adults. It was raining so hard that the streets were flooded for the first time in eighty years, and you had insisted on escaping to the desert.…

Today was the day. The big day. My election for Lieutenant Governor of Division 2B for Key Club, an international service club, was today. Fear and anxiety pricked my skin in rapid movements emanating from every pore. I rehearsed my speech for the fifth time that day. Upon arrival at the Fairfax Library, I urged myself to remain calm. I quickly scouted out the other girls who were present; one girl was dressed professionally with a folder in her hand. I knew that was my competition. The girl spoke eloquently and genially, she radiated enthusiasm and a certain warmth that I did not have. With every question that was asked, she answered with a smooth smile and high-pitched tone that was dripping with sincerity. I bristled inside; I had just been slapped. I was shrouded in a cloud of anxiety and anxiousness. Suddenly, I was dragged from my reverie.…

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” –Oliver Wendell Holmes. One day, I was walking around campus with my friend Faith when both of us stumbled upon a sign in the elevator that mentioned a trip to Europe to study our favorite parts of history. From that minute and on both of us knew we had to look into this one of a kind trip. A few days later we attended the course meeting for the trip both of us looked at each other, nodding our heads in excitement. This was when we finally and completely decided this trip would be for us and we would do everything in our power to go. I was hoping this adventure would show me the people, places, and things that I had heard about in books but also more. I…

Is there life after death? What will happen when I die? Even if a person believes that there is no life after death, they will still question what happens to them after death at some point. For most, it is frightening to think that after your last breath is drawn you just cease to exist. Thankfully, as seen in John 3:16, the Christian worldview takes comfort with knowing that as a saved individual your eternity is in Heaven.…

When I was little I wasn't really allowed to go outside like at all, for example if i wanted to go to the store i would have to ask my mom or dad and i would either get a straight no or if i was lucky someone older than me would convince my parents to let me go and they would go with me, Always. The worst part is that the store was literally right across the street give or take a few feet, regardless i was so restricted if i dared to cross that road without asking to get some candy when i came back the candy would be confiscated and my hands would be red with belt whips.when my parents began to work constantly they would call my second floor neighbor to watch us outside as if we couldn't even play without being watched. It didn't stop there…

Ever since I was born, I was a military brat. Not knowing where to call home, or if any place could be home, I moved. I moved six times, four of those places were towns that nobody could think about. Germany, North Carolina, Alaska, North Carolina, Germany, and Alaska, yet no place to call home. May 22, 1999, my first day on this world; Kronach hospital had its first American baby in their hands, yet they acted like I was a different species. The only event I remember was when I was about one. While I was one, I grabbed everything in my reach, even a grill handle. As a baby, I did not know that the handle was moving, the grill top had smashed my thumb. Ever since that event, I now have a starfish mark on the side of my right thumb from where the stiches were.…
