Personal Narrative: Senior Night
It was one of the last games of the season, and for a select few, it was a night to celebrate their four years playing in high school: Senior Night. It was about 4:00pm, and the sun was just beginning its descend below the tree line on the Westside of the soccer field. Culver and City both stood on their sides of the field in circles, discussing their strategies. Suddenly, the boys in white and navy began jumping into the air and shouting. It was game time. I learned a lesson all the way back in first grade, and that lesson has stuck with me ever since. I was coming in from recess, and I was talking to a friend of mine off to my left. Unfortunately, I was not watching where I was going. I kept barely taking glances of what was in front of me, and that was a huge mistake. Someone was running behind me, and wasn’t watching where they were going either. As I approached the building I heard yelling, but thought nothing of it. After all, recess had just finished, so obviously kids would be yelling, right? It turns out some kids had been playing tag, and decided to play until they got inside. One that was still running away, because God forbid he’d be “it,” was Nick.…

The stadium trembles as 93,000 Cardinal and Gold clad fans chant and cheer for their favorite football team. Down on the sideline is Tommy Trojan and his majestic white steed Traveler. Next to them is the beautiful USC ‘Song Girls’ as they await the team’s entrance into the stadium. In the North Tunnel you can see the team walking toward the field. Hand and Hand the players march as one team. U-S-C, U-S-C chants are deafening as they run out onto the field escorted by Tommy Trojan and the Song Girls. Seeing the players trotting onto the field the fans are riled up into a frenzied state. At that moment the Spirit of Troy Marching Band strikes up to the tune of Seven Nation Army. The crowd responds by singing along. You can see the fear in the opponent’s eyes as they await their…

It was the biggest day of the school year. It was near the end of my Freshman year in high school, and I was satisfied with my grades, proud of my diligent work throughout the school year, and adjusted to the high school. Students of all grades at that point were counting down the days until Spirit Night. Spirit Night—a big tradition in Hillsborough High School—excited me. In the event, each grade faces off with one another in multiple competitions in order to acquire spirit points. By the end of the night, the grade with the most spirit points wins. There were activities during the school day, and we would all be packed into the gym and participate in even more activities after school. During the amazing school day, all the students were jubilant…

During my current four years of high school, I have come to a conclusion that life is hard and the decisions you make are very important. This is my last year of high school and I’m the first one to graduate from my family. My grandmother tends to tell me that I don’t need college just a simple 7 month course of medical assistant or dentist assistant and not waste any more money. I’m lost, I wish people could help me out and tried to guide me in the direction of the right decision but is my life and choices. There has been times that my grandmother has told me that I am not going to be somebody in the future.…

Of the bat, I was very skeptical about your actions at the party. It seemed normal for you to drive Kate back to her house. But after that, when it wasn’t known whether you went back to the party or if you were there for the whole thing, is when I began to build suspicion. At the party most of the people were blotto, but you were sober. This tells me that you knew your actions and how they have consequences.…

This semester has had its ups and downs for me. There were many times when my mind was telling me to give up on English and stop trying, but others times when I really had enjoyed writing. I feel that if I haven’t come into the semester with such a closed mind I could have learned a lot more valuable information. I still know that I have learned a lot of great things that have and will continue to help me become a successful writer. My writing portfolio as a whole is not as good I would like it to be. I feel that you will still be able to see my improvement as my writing goes on.…

I never imagine that I will take any academic award in high school or any time for all that matter. When I stepped excitedly and nervously into the stage to get my third academic letter award in high school, it was the most amazing moments in my life; and without a doubt, it was a fantastic fantasy in between my hands. Arriving at my new school excitingly, Marshall High School, I met my new counselor, who was the first person I met in school. She told me about the school system, the teachers, clubs/organization and my own classes; all that was eagerness and thrilling. We walked around the school; I started imagine who I will be and who I will be friends: one of the popular students, the normal students, or the losers.…

When I first arrived to Richmond Early College High School, I anticipated an academic career characterized by hard work, nightly homework assignments, and incredible doses of stress that a middle school classroom could not synthesize. Although I actually landed my first college class in the second semester of my ninth grade year (ACA, which was required for all newbies and taken simultaneously by all 50 of us), I found myself still shaken. I looked forwarded to the challenges of a college experience, but merely hearing the click of my instructor's heel's as I sat in that classroom for the first time sent my bones into a furious rattle. A worrywart by nature, I was both delighted and horrified by ACA.…

I started learning the basics skills and rules of the game. I started playing Belle-Clair when I was four or five years old, after I saw my sister playing, I wanted to get started as quickly as possible. I played with girls that I went to school with. Every practice and game was so entertaining. Being able to play with my friends outside of schools and getting snacks after every game was the best part. Just being able to have fun as a kid was enjoyable as well.…

If I was a audience member of my 2015 fall semester class, I feel like I would have enjoyed listening to presentations. The reason I think I would have enjoyed it, is because the topics were interesting. I felt that most of my speeches where well planned out and organized. I gave lots of information on the topics that I presented. Also the times that I did make eye contact with the audience, the class looked engaged and attentive. Which makes me feel that I also would have enjoyed it. Lastly I got back positive feedback from my class members.…

It was a chilly August morning. Filled with excitement and wonder, I woke up from my slumber and got ready for school. Today was my first day of Sophomore year. I was no stranger to the curriculum, and I was familiar with most of my teachers. I already had a set friend group, surely, no problems would arise. I did my usual morning routine and got into my car. Driving along Main Street, my mom talked about how much I needed. She said I needed to improve this year, to try and do better than last year. We arrived to the front of the school, and I said my goodbyes. Walking into the school, I was greeted by numerous teachers as well as my classmates, I sat down in the main dining hall and waited for my first class to start.…

I became a sophomore just one year ago and I have enjoyed every bit of the High School. I’ve met new friends and I have seen some old good friends. I have appreciated what I have right now in school, grade and teacher wise. All of the teachers have been extremely helpful throughout the time I have been in High school. For the first few months of High school I had some bummed out times. I was bummed out because I was disappointed that I didn’t have any classes with any of my friends. I figured if I had at least one or two classes with my friends it would be another awesome year like ninth grade was when I had almost all of my classes with at least one of my friends.…

High school is a new atmosphere to everyone. There’s more people, new teachers. It doesn’t start to hit you that you’re almost done with high school until the first week of senior year. It feels like just yesterday you were coming to open house freshman year.
