Personal Narrative: My 2014 Fall Semester Class
If I was a audience member of my 2015 fall semester class, I feel like I would have enjoyed listening to presentations. The reason I think I would have enjoyed it, is because the topics were interesting. I felt that most of my speeches where well planned out and organized. I gave lots of information on the topics that I presented. Also the times that I did make eye contact with the audience, the class looked engaged and attentive. Which makes me feel that I also would have enjoyed it. Lastly I got back positive feedback from my class members.

When giving my speeches I think I gave good convincing evidence. So if I was a member of the class I feel that I would have been convinced on the topics I gave. I think that I gave off a good impression that I knew the information I was presenting, and knew what I was talking about. On my persuasive speech I felt as if I could

In the beginning I felt really nervous and thought that this was going to be my worst class. But I actually enjoyed it. I did a lot better than I expected. Only because I have a really shy personality so I felt that would be my downfall in the class. After doing the first speech I got a little confidences. It actually wasn’t as bad as I was thinking it was going to be. So I would definitely say that I met my expectations now that it's coming to a end.

I think my strengths in speech would be the ability to come up with interesting topics. Just being able to organize my speeches well and make sure that they flow well. I do believe that I do a really good job on coming up with a good attention getter in my introduction. Every now and then I found a good quote or ending for my conclusion as well. Another strength would be coming up with transitions. I think I made them to where they transitioned really smoothly into the next topic. I feel that in the future I can definitely build upon some of my strengths, and make them even

I learned a lesson all the way back in first grade, and that lesson has stuck with me ever since. I was coming in from recess, and I was talking to a friend of mine off to my left. Unfortunately, I was not watching where I was going. I kept barely taking glances of what was in front of me, and that was a huge mistake. Someone was running behind me, and wasn’t watching where they were going either. As I approached the building I heard yelling, but thought nothing of it. After all, recess had just finished, so obviously kids would be yelling, right? It turns out some kids had been playing tag, and decided to play until they got inside. One that was still running away, because God forbid he’d be “it,” was Nick.…

Throughout my years of high school I have always strived for the best grades that I could attain, and they didn’t come easy. There were plenty of distractions that had driven me off course. Whether it was long hours at practice, volunteering for my community, or having a part-time job, I couldn’t let these activities hinder my grades. This purpose had sprung in me, to not only strive in my extracurricular activities, but also my schoolwork. Balancing both school and additional activities wasn’t a simple task. This led me to many sleepless nights, in which I had to tutor myself on certain topics I was struggling on. This ranged from my hardest subject, to studying extra hours on my hardest class, and even simple topics that I needed extra work…

My APUSH class was perhaps my favorite class my junior year despite it having been so rigorous and time demanding. I really enjoyed the material and although it was a large amount of work that was required, I still never found myself not finishing everything. It is for that reason that I really value this notebook. I did not fail to miss a single day of doing homework in the class and really managed to fit a whole year's worth of vocabulary in one single notebook. I think that to me it really represents the time and work that I put into getting everything done as a mean of getting myself prepared for the AP exam. I would always just sit with my friends, trying to complete the homework, it gave most of us something in common to complain about…

Freshman Composition has done so much for me academically. In previous years I have had to do little to no writing and even when we did there were no rules or writing process we had to follow. This class has built a great basis for me, towards my academic future. I do realize that I am far away from being even an average writer, but I enjoy and accept that challenge to myself on becoming a competent writer. Parts of my writing, that still need to work are my introductions and sentence fluency. While I believe that my strong suits are, that once I get past my obstacles of writing that I have the potential to write something that will make a difference, other than that all my skills are still very raw. I’ve learned many things during EN101, the…

It was a bright sunny Wednesday afternoon and I was walking towards my car. I got out of class early and was heading home to get myself ready to spend time with my bright and intelligent students. Sometimes when I get out of class my body feels overwhelmed and tired. Perhaps it feels this way because of all the things that are going on in my life like family, friendship, relationship, community service, and homework assignments. I feel like I am very busy that I often do not have time for myself. However when I arrived to El Jardin that quickly changes. The students that I work with on Wednesday fill my life with positive attitude and energy that I often forget about the worries and stress that I encounter during the day. I really love my Wednesday shift more than my Tuesday shift because I have a stronger connection and attachment towards the two girls that I work with. On Wednesday’s, I work with two bright and intelligent 6th grade girls named Arisa and Janet. Both of them have special qualities and a sweet kind heart.…

In fourth grade, I was given a homework assignment of the worst nature my nine-year-old brain could envision: an essay. My entire class erupted with sighs and groans as my teacher explained the assignment: interview someone you know and write a biography. I was stumped; I didn't think anyone in my family was interesting. I didn’t have an uncle that was a firefighter or cousin that was an astronaut. I had absolutely no idea who to write about. At dinner that night, my parents suggested I interview my grandfather. With no alternatives in mind, I unenthusiastically accepted their suggestion. The following Friday night, my parents drove me to my grandparents’ house with a pencil and a notebook, and I sat down with my grandfather as he told me the story of how he came to America.…

Growing up I spent most of my childhood in Vietnam living an ordinary life. My parents were not risk-takers until they decided to quit their career as educators and move to the United States. Knowing that life in America will be challenging for immigrants, we mentally prepared ourselves to be fearless and get through every obstacle that is in our way. No matter how prepare we were, being a newcomer was frightful. When I first step foot on the land of promise, there was a mixed emotion suddenly rushed through me as a signal telling me life here will not be easy. We faced will endless obstacles and the language barrier is the most, the biggest challenge for us. Personally, I think learning a new language is difficult and requires a lot of hard…

My writing has changed a lot in my first-semester essay writing class. I finally took a class that teaches me useful information and how to properly write an essay. Essay Writing overall was a fun experience it was a slow start for me in the beginning but once I was able to get the work done I was fine. There were a lot of positives to taking this class. I started the year struggling to come up with ideas to write about nut now I can brainstorm and put my words down on the paper better than ever. “If I could travel anyplace in the world for free, I would want to go to North Korea. I would love to see what it's like.” I struggled with proper punctuation and the use of commas and such throughout my high school career and I still struggle with it I hope to learn more about it in the near future. “Cars are one of the best inventions ever.” I needed some direction on making my sentences longer with getting to the point at the same time. There's a lot of small things I need to still improve on but I feel like I got a good start with the Essay Writing course. I got a lot of useful feedback from Mrs.Pennings on all my essays like when to use certain words and proper punctuation and some compliments the really…

I headed to my first class which just so happened to be my favorite subject, English. The hallways were very wide but when filled with students I felt like I had to shove my way through just to get to my locker. The lockers were a mixture between Gray and purple. The school colors were supposed to be purple and silver but there was no way that these lockers could be considered. I took a look at the little piece of paper that the lady in the office had given me and tried out the combination on my locker. It took me about five minutes to open it and after struggling for that long I was a little irritated so when it did open, it flew open and slammed into the locker next to mine. I held my breath and hoped that nobody had noticed. I took a long deep breath and slowly opened my eyes again. Luckily I was still standing alone and nobody around was looking at me. I put my extra books and notebooks into the locker and and closed it as quietly as I could.…

I felt comfortable in front of the class while giving the speech and was being sure to speak loud and clear. Quite a few of the peer reviews stated that I had great eye contact and a good loud voice. Other peer reviews I enjoyed reading stated I had a good presentation and PowerPoint to make the speech easy to follow. My favorite review was one that said “He understood and really cared about the topic.” It means a lot to me because soccer is my passion and for someone else to see that in me makes the speech easy. I researched the topic beforehand to gather my speech and I had reviews stating I had detailed facts about the world cup.…
