Personal Narrative On The Nutcracker
I froze in the middle of the studio and ran to the side of the room. Too much pressure on a five year old if I do say so myself. By the look on the judge’s faces I was totally convinced that they were going to reject me, but one week later we got the call. They sent us the casting packet, and rehearsal schedule along with the little card at the bottom of the big, yellow envelope that read in big letters, CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE BEEN CASTED AS A PARTY GIRL. I couldn’t wait until my very first season of “The Nutcracker” started.
After many weeks of rehearsals, Opening Night finally arrived, and I was checked out of school early for hair and makeup and was all ready to dance my heart out. We all had stage families which concluded of a Mom, Dad, little sister, older sister, and younger or older brother so the older sister would help the little sister get dressed which would take forever. “My bow is too tight!” I would always scream to my older sister Bailey. We walked on stage right before the show started and walked ourselves right into a great scare. “ Hello!” yelled a man in a big purple cape. “ Ready for the first show of the season?” he asked. He saw the frightened look on my face and explained his costume and explained his costume and his role as Drosselmeyer. The over the PA system the man announced, “ Dancers, places please.
