Personal Narrative: My Visit To Ingles
On this visit to Ingles, I found the shopping carts strewn about the parking lot. I counted 17 carts altogether. There were carts by the left side entrance doors. There were carts under a light pole. And, there were even two carts up on the grass at the side road entrance to the store. At the Hot Bar/Deli Patrice was superior in helping me with a sample. She smiled and asked how she could help me. I asked for a sample and she smiled and said just a second. After I had tasted the sample she asked if I wanted more. I said not today and I thanked her. To complete the property tour, we looked at the bedroom, comfortably proportioned for a queen sized bed and a floor-to-ceiling closet with a large window facing Paolina Park. The attractive bathroom was functional and came equipped with all the essentials. Lastly, we looked at the garage. Maria Laura informed us that Italians refer to a garage as a “car box”. The car box was large enough to accommodate a mid-sized car, a workbench, and storage for tools and seasonal items. I was overjoyed…

I went to a busy restaurant called JJ Chagos. The first person I chose was a younger lady with short brown hair. She was wearing a light maroon blouse with a grey cardigan and black leggings with flats; she also had her nails done. She had a coffee and ate a croissant very lady like. I classified her as a lower upper or upper middle class person. The second person I chose was a younger man with short brown hair. He was wearing a FSU sweatshirt, blue jeans, and Nike shoes. He was drinking a water and eating scrambled eggs and a bagel. I classified him as a middle class person. The third person I chose was an older man with a bald head and a huge beard. He was wearing glasses, a black t-shirt, and blue jeans. He had a big belly and a tattoo…

As part of our school's community service program,I volunteered at a family with a down syndrome child. For two years, I went to help the Jablons every Thursday right after school.I helped out with a variety of things including homework, bathing the little ones, and physical therapy with Nesanel. Sometimes it seemed as though I was on the giving end, however I was really the receiver. I have learned so much from Nesanel. From his precious smile, his determination, and his love for others. Nesanel loves friends. He doesn't discriminate between people from different backrounds or color. Nesanel is truly special. Working with him and his siblings has given me a new outlook on…

I came to the United States from Colombia when I was just 3 years old. I was brought into the country of bright opportunities because like every other parent, my mother and father wanted what was best for me. My mother had to give up her dream job in Colombia, which was being an accountant for an essentially important company, in order to facilitate my well-being and open up the doors for my future. As the years progressed, I began to acquire both languages, English and Spanish, but there was a point where I became tongue tied and had to assist in speech therapy. My parents would talk to me in Spanish at home but in school all I would hear was English, my mind was extremely confused to the point that I made my own language by using both tongues in one sentence.…

In the summer of 1803, a twenty-eight year old Virginian was preparing to lead a field expedition into some of the most rugged wilderness on the North American Continent. It would be a perilous undertaking. The platoon traveled by boat, horse and foot for approximately 8,000 miles- venturing beyond maps, traveling into the headwaters of the great Missouri river, across the fearsome Rocky Mountains, and through the unforgiving western plains. The crew explored an undiscovered route to the pacific and back; encountering cold, hunger, danger, and wonders beyond belief. No expedition had ever attempted such an arduous undertaking, no one thought it was possible.…

It all started when we left from the hotel around five o’clock, hoping to get to the CN Tower on time. We were on vacation in Toronto in mid July, we had just arrived here a day ago from Niagara Falls. When we left we would have never imagined that this would be one of the longest walks some of us have taken. Pleasantly, we left for the CN Tower, which we thought couldn’t be a great amount of distance from our hotel. We were wrong!…

There has been many cases in which I have helped an outsider feel welcome. One time in particular is when I played tag with this little boy at church since he was new and no one else played with him. Originally, I was outside eating candy and talking to my friends at church. I noticed that this little boy was standing all alone watching all the other little kids play without him. I thought that maybe he was upset so I went over to him and asked if he wanted the rest of my gummy worms. He seemed nervous at first, but eventually he started talking to me. I learned that he was five years old and he was visiting his grandparents for the weekend. His older brother was outside playing basketball with some of the other older boys at the church, and…

Hansol's day was going positively, surprisingly. A crucial order was made that day, however, and of course, Hansol was involved. The black-haired boy wasn’t the best baker, he had a repetition for knocking things over or spilling things so when the older (and more experienced) bakers found out about him being involved they just shrugged and expected the worst.…
