Personal Narrative: My Trip To Monroe College
My recent trip to Belgium as a student was a one in a lifetime experience. I appreciate you choosing me to be one of the students to represent Monroe College. I was able to experience a diverse learning curriculum. I traveled to 10 different Countries and met tons of new peers and friends. Unfortunately, that experience is over, the last exam has been taken and my grade is now final.

We spoke on the phone briefly while I was in Belgium and recently after I returned to New York. I made you aware both times how Alexandra Chow contributes with assistance for the abroad students. I would like to elaborate on how things were handled. The Assistant Director of Student Services Alexander Chow made it clears that she is the go-to person for questions and concerns. I had email and called Chow on many occasions. I never got a return phone call from her. If I was so lucky to get her on the phone she would only speak to me for no more

I sign a document before I left stating that these classes will be assigned to me once I start attending Artevelde College. I email Alexander with questions because the classes didn’t match what I signed. I spent 3 weeks in the wrong classes because Alexandra Chow neglected to respond to my email in a timing manner and to make sure the classes I’m taking will be accepted for credit. It was at that moment I lost faith in Chow dedication.

When I return to Monroe I was given a schedule for the classes and time to take the final exam. I was given 3 classes that required me to take an exam. I called Abarrett in regard to the timing of the exams. She advises me that I can take the Friday exam any time before 7 pm. I arrived at Monroe College at 4 pm to find out that the testing center is close. I spoke to her again on Monday and she told me that I failed that class because I didn’t take the exam. I will not take reasonability for her mistake for giving me the wrong hour of

Firstly, I began missing school a lot starting in October. I missed 20 days throughout the fall semester of junior year alone. I had lots of homework o make up due to all of my absences and Mrs. Henrey was very helpful in helping me succeed with the homework I missed. Mrs. Henrey went out of her way to help me. She would have me come into her classroom during lunch so that I would not have to sit in the cafeteria, which was very loud, to help me concentrate on homework. She also tried to help me understand what I was missing even if it was a class she was not teaching. Mrs. Henrey was an English teacher and she would repeatedly try and me with other classes such as Calculus and Childhood Development even though that was not her field of expertise. She was very helpful in keeping…

As the end of the year approached, all the students began to choose what classes they would take the next year, and for each core class, the student would need the signature of approval on their choice for next year. When I brought my course selection sheet to Mr. Brown, he noted that I had signed up for on-level junior English, and then he stated that he wouldn't sign my sheet unless I was going into advanced English again the next year. So I changed my choice on the paper so he would sign it, then I erased what I had changed and signed up for the on-level class, because I knew I would do better in a non-advanced class, and my grade point average had already suffered…

Arriving by bus in Williamsport after saying goodbye to our families was surreal. We had worked so hard for this, I could not believe our dream was now a reality. I was excited, yet nervous and scared about the TV cameras. I had no idea what to expect. I was anxious about meeting our dorm mates who were from Japan; would the language barrier be an issue? I soon realized we would be fine and words are not always necessary to communicate.…

After waiting a couple of days, I again checked my unofficial transcript and my GPA. I instantly noticed that my GPA had been recalculated to a 2.03 institution and 2.28 overall. This would mean I no longer had a need to be on academic probation. I immediately contacted Mr. Dell and Ms. Tahsequah and informed them of the same. They instructed me that I would be able to remain in the College of Arts and Sciences and I would no longer have the need to meet with Ms. Tahsequah on June 13, 2013. After speaking with them, I contacted Ms. Brinda Thomas at the College of Arts and Sciences, and she confirmed what had already been communicated with me and that I am no longer on Academic…

College is unfamiliar territory to individuals of my age. I have friends and family members who have been through it, yet everyone’s experience is completely diverse. Nevertheless, there is one statement that is habitually received amongst many when they talk about their college experience: “College is the best four years of your life, so be sure to make the most of it.” That is unerringly what I plan to accomplish with my four years at the University of Louisville. I want it to be memorable.…

I never actually attended UConn as a degree student. Although it is true that I enrolled late in the summer of 2009, it was only for the briefest amount of time. I enrolled late at UConn because unforeseen financial issues in my family made attending the other schools I was accepted into a terrible idea. However, quickly after enrolling I came to the realization that I had no concise plan of action towards a specific degree. I was enrolled in a mishmash of different classes that did not take me towards any direction. Therefore, I decided to drop the courses I was enrolled in, and instead work full time and save money to pay for college on my own. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, some kind of error must have occurred in this process. I thought…

My instructor seen my passion, drive, and skill and used me to help train my other classmates throughout the course. During clinicals I was tactful, compassionate, and determined to give the best care I possibly could. Even the CNA’s on the job would ask me to come help them if they needed it. I gained respect from the employees and also management. My classmates would call on me to help them, or to ask me questions. I was in the mindset that I was already a CNA and that that was my job. After completing the classwork and clinical hours part of the class, came the written and skills test administered by the state. After studying for almost three months straight, and practicing the skills over and over until they were second nature I knew I was ready to take and pass the test. I had faith in myself, more than I should have, that I was going to pass both sections with flying colors. Come test day everyone in my class was as nervous as a mice while I was perfectly calm. When it came my time and done my skills I knew I had passed. I had no doubt I had passed. Then she handed me my…
