Asking me to pick only one problem with Anderson Indiana is like asking an artist to pick only one problem with a painting he’s painted. Anderson exactly have a clean or dignified town. It’s actually quite dirty, dull and boring. There’s dogfighting cops, a prominent meth and heroin problem, and i know about 4 kids shot and killed just this year, the list goes on. Personally I don’t walk anywhere here because It’s so risky. Aside from all the downs our town is relatively aesthetically pleasing, we have quite a bit of wildlife although we’re so hectic. But the potholes, discarded trash and needles, and the amount of abandoned houses take it down a few levels.…

In 1752 I was a seventeen year old destitute living in Scotland, Ireland. I had no real skill-trade or education, but with high ambitions to learn and become a collective dependant I would earn a stable lively-hood in one of the New World colonies. I suffered losses of loved who fell sick and died with only a few remaining that were as impoverished as myself. I feared there would be no prospect of a better life in Scotland and contracted myself as an indentured servant for passage to the New World colonies. Along with many others I boarded a New World merchant ship that specialized in the trade of textiles and clothing. In exchange for travel, food, and decent health, I was sold for profit to proprietors in the New World. The voyage to New…

As a child I have always wanted to help other people. When I was 8 my parents decided to separate. At the time, my mother decided to move my sister and I away from Chicago. My mother packed our luggage and decided to move us to Detroit. That wasnt the only time we moved, we moved four times while I was growing up, all over the country and even to another continent. Eventually we had to leave our mom in Nigeria and my sister and I went to Detroit. When we got to Detroit my aunt didn't hesitate to make us feel comfortable. It was just something about it,I still didn't feel right. I called my mother one day crying to her and explaining how we didn't like being there. After talking to her, I felt that it was time to go back to Chicago. I called my dad, (knowing I haven’t spoke/seen him for many years) and explained to him the situation on how we felt uncomfortable in Detroit.…

Once we arrived to Illinois we went by 26st. There my father was waiting for us outside with my cousins and aunt. The first thing I did was reach for my father. Our first few weeks in Chicago were a bit lunatic. By saying that the next day after we arrived my sister and I went to the store and a shoot broke out. My mom came into the store running to pick us up. I honestly was scared of my new home. Once school started I started to have a bit of comfort in the neighborhood. Once I went to school it hit me that I was not anymore in Mexico, for I saw a lot of diversity. From black to white, to brown people I saw and I meet. I only saw white people on TV who were another ethic than me. During kinder I learned to read, count, and learn a new language…

The holiday season, a time meant for the celebration of chilly weather and cheerful greetings, is perhaps the most celebrated time in America. Each year, millions of high school students embrace the promises of the holidays as an opportunity for rest, relaxation, and freedom from the confines of scholarly pursuit. I, being one of many students weighed down by the stress of finals and academia, eagerly anticipated my holiday break that would begin the second week of December. For weeks, I planned out what I would do with my abundance of free time so that I would enjoy each day to the maximum capacity. I resolved to travel to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where I would experience the scenic snow-capped mountains, bustling village towns, and adventurous…

I was raised, since eight years of age in Canton, a northern community in Georgia. My upbringing was in a suburban setting, relatively quiet and with a lot of friendships developed right from my neighborhood. Except for vacations to Florida, most of my friends never left Canton and went to the same elementary, middle and high school. Our parents drove us to school, enrolled me in Lacrosse, baseball and football. I grew with, what I consider, a very normal American childhood.…
