Personal Narrative: My Trip To Connecticut
When my family and I were on vacation in Connecticut we decided to go the New York City. We got up in the morning and drove to the train station. We rode the train into Grand Central Station, it was very beautiful. The ceiling in the station was high and there was loads of light coming in from the windows. After we arrived at the station we walked to the Natural History Museum. We looked at all the exhibits, they were amazing and very interesting. Then we went to Central park and walked around for two miles. My family and I went to this pond in Central park that had a ton of turtles popping in and out of the water. Finally my family and I went to Times Square, it was absolutely amazing! The bright billboards were extremely cool! We walked around

5:45 a.m., Wednesday, Boxing Day, 2013. I was sleeping soundly in my bed when the phone rang. I could hear the sound of someone getting up to pick up the phone. Shortly afterwards, I could hear the sound of weeping. I heard my Mom tell my Dad that Oma had passed away. Two days ago we had received word that she had fallen on her back and suffered a concussion. The fall might have been caused by her struggle with Alzheimer’s.…

In 1752 I was a seventeen year old destitute living in Scotland, Ireland. I had no real skill-trade or education, but with high ambitions to learn and become a collective dependant I would earn a stable lively-hood in one of the New World colonies. I suffered losses of loved who fell sick and died with only a few remaining that were as impoverished as myself. I feared there would be no prospect of a better life in Scotland and contracted myself as an indentured servant for passage to the New World colonies. Along with many others I boarded a New World merchant ship that specialized in the trade of textiles and clothing. In exchange for travel, food, and decent health, I was sold for profit to proprietors in the New World. The voyage to New…

People know Vermont’s Ben & Jerry’s Ice cream and maple syrup better than they know Vermont itself. This was true for me as well: I had no idea where Vermont was before I actually stepped on this land three years ago. The town called Manchester was as rural as I could imagine, but it brought me a fresh living experience and inspired me to appreciate the beauty of nature.…

Sightseeing in Washington was crazy. Seeing monuments, memorials, and museums in real life is unbelievable and emotional. My Carolina story is one of perseverance. I grew up in a prominently white and underrepresented area, being a multicultural male it was very hard to fit in. However, with the backing of family and friends I was able to overcome many of the obstacles that plagued my area. Through hard work and dedication, I believe that anything is possible. It can be said that as long as you believe in yourself nothing is out of reach. For me this was the key to my success, however, upon applying to UNC-CH I was waitlisted. This greatly hurt my confidence as I felt as if I wasn't smart enough, but to my surprise I made it off the waiting list and enrolled in UNC. Nevertheless, the effects of being waitlisted lingered over me a long period of time. I found myself contemplating whether I was smart enough to attend such a prestigious university. Although soon enough I began to get involved on campus and through this I realized UNC was the best place for me and that no matter what I could make it at a esteemed university. The diversity that UNC offers was a vital key in helping to understand my place, I heard that "diversity creates identity" and this has been one of the strongest statements I have ever heard. My Carolina story is one of struggle and perseverance to fit in, yet, with hope and hard work you can accomplish anything.…

I hear ticking of the keyboard and clicking of the mouse. Through the crack in the door, I saw my father sitting infront of his computer working on his new designs again. I gasped, as my eyes opened wide. I was astonished by how one touch of his finger made splash of colors, patterns, and images. I’ve been dreaming of becoming an artist since I was very young, and I believe going to the Governor’s School will help me improve in technological skills, meet new friends and professionals, and learn new techniques and skills.…

I don’t travel very much at all but my parents managed to send me on the trip as a kind of graduation gift, a great traveling experience and the sightseeing part of the trip was amazing. We went toured all over the city, went to see plays, and visited a lot of famous places. I had only seen New York on TV or in pictures but I loved being able to actually go there. Just watching TV or seeing pictures on a screen cannot compare at all to actually standing at the top of the Rockefeller Center and being able to see all of Manhattan and the surrounding area as far as you can see, the same can be said about Times Square. Going to these two places were some of my favorite things that we did, along with seeing the Blue Man Group, going to Chinatown, and walking up and down Fifth Avenue. I had a great time actually being able to see and experience everything for myself, but there are more reasons as to why I loved that trip so much.…

On Saturday April 13, 2013 I was walking through the parking garage on the USAA campus in San Antonio, TX to start my 4 hour work shift, I began to go through the turnstile and seemingly startled awake a bat. This bat began to fly and squeal in fear. It darted at my head getting caught in my hair a couple times. I started to scream and flail my arms about trying to fend off the nocturnal flying mammal in fear. During what seemed to be forever I was able to unlock the turnstile and exit the entry way but not before rupturing two discs in my neck. This incident caused quite the turn of events in my life. I had been working for USAA for 3 years and truly loved it there. I also lived in a beautiful apartment with my mother and two children and…

Last year was my first year in Ohio, so it was kind of hard at first. Since I was new, I didn’t know anyone. The first couple of days were kind of hard, but as I started making friends it soon got easier. My favorite reason to come to school was to see my friends. I hated waking up every day at 6 A.M. to come to school. My favorite class was math because I love math and Mr. Cowan made it a fun year. The class I struggled in was science. I might've still got good grades in science, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t stress me out and got me nervous. Some of the hardships I experienced was stressing over school work too much and people judging me for who I am and how I do things. One of the accomplishments I made was getting a GPA of over 4.0, which…
