Personal Narrative: My Responsibility To America
My Responsibility to America Responsibility: the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or having control of someone.
Many Americans today enjoy a variety of freedoms given to them by their country. Most people do not think what it took to allow them to have the freedom they enjoy today. So many people take for granted that they have the ability to do or become whatever they desire. In America, there are no restrictions on what you can do. You are born in a country that gives you the privileges numerous people desire. Condoleezza Rice once said,”The essence of America- that which really unites us- is not ethnicity, or nationality, or religion- it is an idea- and what an idea it is: That you can come from humble circumstances

I grew up with a family full of veterans. My grandfather took the most pride in being a veteran. To him, it was the highest honor to serve his country. He taught me to always have pride that I am able to live in the wonderful country I do. My freedom was not given to me, it was fought for by grandfather, my uncles, and so many others. “Remember, remember always, that all of us, you and I especially are descended from immigrants and revolutionists.”- Franklin D. Roosevelt. Our country was not born free, our freedom was fought for a generation by …show more content…
We need to go out and make a difference by our actions toward others. We have three choices in life: accept it, change it, or forget it. We live in a country that allows us to change something if we do not agree with it. Or it allows us to disagree with something we do not believe in. We are responsible for our actions and what they represent. While Colin may have a good idea and a good reason for what he is doing, he is going about it the wrong way. He is causing another problem and drawing attention to it rather than to his original issue.
Kneeling while ¨The National Anthem¨ plays is not going to spark a change. To change something, you have to stand up and take action. Go out and speak about and show the world why you are doing what you are doing. We shape our own lives. We have to lead by example. We are responsible for our own actions. Some people will refuse to change and that is on them. You cannot change the heart of someone who sees nothing wrong with what they are doing.
Only God has the ability to change the hearts of men. Without Him, there will always be hate and sin in the hearts of men. It is our duty as Christians to spread the Word of God to every man. Then and only then will they be able to love one another. We must show humbleness and understanding to every man. Without God, a country cannot

The article “A Movement Too Big to Fail” by Chris Hedges with his criticism of “faux liberal reformers, whose abject failure to stand up for the rights of the poor and the working class, have signed on to this movement because they fear becoming irrelevant”(Hedges) to the reformers along with heads of financial leaders. Through non violent movements and protests against those who threaten the lower class wellbeing, that somehow they as a group gathering for the greater interests can show that others do exist and this is their way of saying that we as a whole united can make a difference and that we as Americans have that right to voice our opinions. It happened in the 1960’s, with the Vietnam war, nonviolent protesting made known that many people of the united states were against the war. Just like what we were doing in the 60s is no different from now, when the “union leaders pull down salaries five times that of their superiors”(Hedges).…

The recent deaths that has occurred in America is heartbreaking, but nothing new to society . Mr. Williams speech at the BET Awards was inspiring, however overtime it will fade into past events like day to night. The only way change is going to occur for the oppressed population of this nation is to develop unity . The development of unity amongst the oppressed population is going to be difficult because everyone boycotting has their own agenda and it's sometimes not in the best interest of the oppressed population. More so, there is another problem everyone wants to be commander and cheif and don't nobody want to be a solider fighting for the cause. This divide is the systems advantage on blocking unity and implementing change within the…

My political viewpoint has changed dramatically since I was first introduced to politics. I come from a democratic family, where it is strongly believed that it is the government’s responsibility to care for all people and that the government knows what is best for all people. Every voting season, my parents vote for a democratic president and explain to me the reasoning behind their decision. It was not until I was in the tenth grade that I realized that I did not hold the same political beliefs as my parents. After taking several political quizzes and extensively researching the bevy of political parties, I now know that I am an independent. What is an independent? An independent is an individual politician not affiliated to any political…

It is late evening of May 1, 2011. I am trying as patiently as I possibly can to relax in my chair. I am sitting in a heavy black-painted room in a comfortable brown chair. The chair is at the head of a long table that occupies most of the room. This room happens to be my favorite room in all of the White House. Well anyways, I am sitting in this room...alone...with nervousness circling throughout my body...along with envy...because the United States Navy Seals are currently in Pakistan capturing and killing Osama Bin Laden. I put my hand up to see just about how nervous I am. My hand appears to be shaking more than a knee bobbing up and down, side to side when they really have to go to the bathroom. I have been stressing out all day over how the operation is going to turn out.…

Those words still stand strong today as they did back then. Throughout our history American soldiers, marines, air force, and coastguards have answered to defend for our freedom and rights. That is why we as Americans should respect our veterans and thank them for what they have done for all of…

America, land of the free and home of the brave, a country strengthened with rights, equality, and justice. For Americans it’s just a regular country, with regular rules and laws, nothing special about it. Although, to immigrants it’s a country to reinterpret their lives, a better life, a life where they’re free to pursue their happiness and follow their dreams. Even though America is a great country, adjusting to a new culture isn’t easy. It took patience, support, understanding, and passion in order for me to balance two different cultures.…

What is your vision for America? In my vision for America I think we could change and improve many things. My vision for America would be my ultimate utopia.
