Personal Narrative: My Mom Changed My Life
Every morning, I would feel irritated with my house being too loud and too noisy as the sounds of the pans and pots from the kitchen would echo in my ears, causing me to wake up. My mother never forgets to prepare breakfast for me despite leaving for work at dawn and returns home at dusk. When I feel thirsty while I am at school, there is always a full bottle of water inside of my backpack to keep me feeling hydrated. During the times I struggled with homework, my mother would encourage to do my best, support me, and try to help in as many ways as possible even if she did not understand the materials I was learning. My mother, who plays a vital and significant role as my motivation and inspiration, is someone I strive to emulate. I have noticed many of her …show more content…

She also demonstrated the value of making people happy, even if it means that you will have to sacrifice something important to you. My heart is pounding in my chest as I am in complete awe as I realize that finally she is coming. It is one of the most thrilling events that has ever happened to me in my entire life. I don’t think one can ever be completely ready for what I was about to endure as well as the pain my body was about to be put through. The pain begins to become more alarming as stronger waves of torment flows throughout my body down to the deepest core of my being. I have to say no matter how many books or classes I have taken, nothing could prepare me for what was about to happen next. It is not something that one could ever be mentally qualified for until it is actually happening. Fourteen hours of agonizing discomfort and yet we are still waiting for her to enter into this nonsensical, yet wonderful world. At that moment, I realize once she arrives she will be completely dependent on me.…

“I’ll never become rich doing this, but it’s what I love,” she said. She refers to a woman who essentially changed my life, Corinna Sowers-Adler. A mentor, a teacher, a director, and a friend who I’ve only come to know for a little less than a year now. This refers to the wonderful world I hope to be immersed in for the rest of my life, theatre. Corinna and I were conversing on our way to Starbucks with the rest of my new theatre family, Gaslamp Academy of Performing Arts, a program I had just enrolled in for the summer. I replied with an answer I now have a better understanding for, “Well… you’re rich in so many different ways.” My family has never been rich in terms of money, we’re pretty far from it. But we’ve always been rich in things…
