Personal Narrative: My Lunchroom
Have you ever imagined of a room that sent such a good vibe that you thought it was too good to be true? Well, that is how this lunchroom was. When I walked in the first thing I say was the bright lit faces of the john Adams middle school students.Their faces were so astonishing that it but a big smile on my face. The poster filled walls were a bright baby blue with a hint of green. The tables were stunning. The colors were so remarkable that they were almost blinding. The pillars that stood high were covered with flyers of all colors. But the best thing of all was the smell coming from the cafeteria. It smelled like fresh pizza out of the oven. But what they were serving was much better than pizza, it was cheesy bread sticks. As my waiter …show more content…
When I finally got to my food the look on the lunch lady’s face as I grabbed my food was magnificent they looked so like they loved their job. For my choice of food, I picked cheesy breadstick with a packet of marinara sauce, romaine salad w/ dressing, hash brown stick, a pear, and a low -fat chocolate milk. As I walked back to my table students greeted me and shook my hand and a few came to sit with me. Before I dipped my bread stick into the little cup of marinara sauce I looked at it.The cheesy, baked flavorful and fluffy bread stick looked as if it was caramelized with butter. I broke the bread stick open to look at the cheese. The cheese looked so creamy and delicious I could not help myself I took a bit and the cheese melted in my mouth the bread was doughy but cooked enough to be just right. Next I took a bite into the pear. It was so juicy the citrus was so superior it was magnificent. This was by far is the most breathtaking experience I ever had. Just the scenery was incredible and the atmosphere was amazing. In addition to the scenery and the vibe, the food was awe-inspiring by far the best. So to sum it up I would say if you are passing mason stop by the cafe cafeteria to witness the best group of student and taste the best food in the

The clouds do little to shade the ground as the sun shines through them as if nothing is attempting to block sun’s rays. I allow myself to stand for a moment, warming myself – the air inside the school is set to such a low temperature, that some students a jacket on a hot day. Smoke fills the air, especially the areas surrounding the grilling station by the soccer field. The scent of charred beef and pork is noticeable from quite a distance away. The more I walk towards the grilling station, the more the pungent aroma of smoke and cooked meat fill my nostrils. I reach the grill and a teacher I do not recognize, obviously from the upper levels, offers me an empty paper plate. “Thank you.” I say, with a look of nervousness plastered on my face. I am not yet comfortable with meeting new people, and small encounters like this one are no exceptions. No matter, I have my plate and I make my way towards the grill to receive my special…

As a Chinese-American, my family expected me to help out at the restaurant while maintaining straight A's in school. But, it wasn't easy; every day, I would report to the restaurant after school and immediately start working. Inside the kitchen, I would pack all the orders into aluminum containers, place them into a brown bag, and insert packets of sauces and utensils. Burns and cuts were common due to the terrible and tearable aluminum containers. Outside at the front desk, I would answer the seemingly endless ringing phones. In many instances, customers had to wait either on the phone or at the front desk for me to find their orders on the computer, even after they showed me where it was on the menu. During lunch hours, the pressure was even…

My ears ring as the old school bus screeches to a halt. We hop off and a dry, winter gust smacks my face. Instantly, my stuffy nose runs. I grasp the cold metal handle of the school door, open it, and slam a piece of wood underneath to keep it ajar. After we become accustomed to the cold shock, Mrs. Cimenski, our director, orders us to haul the heavy wooden tables and a set of four lockers toward our designated area backstage. We struggle through multiple doors and long curtains until we reach our destination. The first aid kit mends our minor cuts and bruises created in the process. Gathering our senses, we collect the makeup and costumes and begin a brisk walk to the classroom assigned to us. The first performance is in an hour and a half,…

Everyday is a new day for me. I wake up everyday pondering whether or not I will be able to get through the day without a single complaint. As I woke up this morning, I went straight to my coffee machine to make my coffee as I always do. What was strange is that every time I tried to start it up, it wouldn't start. After realizing that my coffee machine, my most prized possession, was broken, I quickly got ready with my signature messy bun and went to the nearest coffee shop. I was going to get my coffee. After ordering my favorite coffee at Dunn Brothers, I was not happy to see that they messed up my order. I went to my work and hoped that the not-my-order-coffee would kick in soon. This day has already started off horribly and I did not…

We walked through the city of Baltimore to get to the stadium. It was so crowded, you could barely breathe with all the people and food vendors around. I could smell a mixture of so many things. The first thing was the people, some there smelled like they had just taken a shower but others smelled like a dead skunk. You just couldn’t stand the smell you had to walk away from that person as fast as possible. The other smells I could smell was the food from the vendors. The one I liked the most was the smoked sausage and pulled pork vendor. I was in heaven when we stopped there. It’s every man’s dream to see sausage sandwiches in front of him along with some freshly pulled pork with sweet, tangy barbeque sauce. I had ordered the pulled pork. It wasn’t too cold but wasn’t too hot, it was just right. The juice rolled off of the sandwich onto the napkin every time I had taken a bite. The tanginess was just sensational it was perfect in every which way. I had also picked up, a nice cold lemonade on this hot day. When the lemonade touched my lips they shriveled up from all of the lemon that was in it. It was a perfect mixture of lemons and sugar water it was just fabulous. The icy coldness of the lemonade was wonderful because it was steaming outside.…

This week reminded me how amazing and important my job is. Friday was a busy day at the office; I was rushing to finish my work so I could leave on time. As I was about to leave I received a phone call from a hiring manager (Mark) with NOAA. Mark had questions about the interview process and was calling to speak to one of my colleagues. Unfortunately, my colleague was on vacation and wouldn’t be back for another week. I looked at the clock and realized it was time to go but I could hear the frustration in Mark’s voice. Instead of leaving, I spent almost an hour listening to Mark’s concerns, answering his questions, and I explained how the federal hiring process works. At the end of our conversation, Mark thanked me for my time and he told me…

When students think of lunch, memories of their summer come surging back and the image in their heads is that of a delicious grilled cheese sandwich prepared with fresh ingredients accompanied with an icy cold splash of pink lemonade on a hot summer’s day. As they walk swiftly through the vast crowd of drab children, they are struck with the realization that this no longer is the case. Instead, their lunch consists of the packaged “goodness” that is sweaty meat and sucrose-filled “fruit cups”. Although a lot of the gooey “goodness” isn’t healthy or in any way appealing it does serve a useful purpose; it is the perfect demonstration of what pure and utter filth looks like.…
