My Lips Can’t Move
The room was silent, nothing was said from the eager students since one of their classmate was given the floor to talk. But, not even the poor eight year old girl had enough courage to open her mouth. She remained her focus on her blue navy skirt but periodically glanced at the impatient teacher, who held her unoccupied journal. The journal that she was expected to write the daily notes of the day. The young child that stood prominently in the front of the room knew what she did wrong but was to embarrassed to announce how disrespectful she was for sleeping during an important lesson.

“Cassandra Macenat, this is the last time I’m going to repeat myself,” the teacher, Ms. K, said sternly, “Tell me why you were sleeping in my class?”

Her mouth became dry each minute Ms.K urged the answer from her. Yet she knew what she needed to say, Cassandra was to shy, disappointed, and exhausted to even comply with the professor's orders. She was a timid girl that never really participated in class discussions but always did well on quizzes. So standing in the center of the classroom was a major difference for her. In her shy mind, she thought she would not have been able to speak to her teacher, Ms. K, in a professional manner because how afraid she was. Even Ms. K almost gave up on prying answers from her when she realized how emotional Cassandra was getting but when Cassie opened her mouth it surprised her. It was very unexpected because you would think Cassandra would break down and cry from all the embarrassment but she owned up to her mistakes like a big girl.
