Personal Narrative: My Life In Indiana
All my life, all I ever knew was Indiana. My friends, school, and favorite restaurant were all there. I didn’t want to change anything! I was 8; I thought I had my whole life together. That soon changed when my mother was offered a new job in a new state. A state... that to me was like a whole other country, a place full of new, strange and scary things.I didn’t want to leave the Krogers with a ginormous wall full of delicious jelly beans, or the Bonnie & Clyde restaurant my dad always took me to before half day kindergarten. But, I was small, no one cared about my opinions. Next thing I knew, we were gone. Goodbye Indiana! Hello corn filled Iowa… At the time that the house searching began, we stayed with my grandparents, in Brooklyn Iowa. Over a couple weeks my parents looked at multitude of houses, in a range of different areas. After a couple weeks they found one in Mount Vernon Iowa. This one, was the one they wanted to bring the whole family too! Which meant it was probably the one. The house was giant, like a palace! It was a corner lot house surrounding by 7 extremely tall trees. It was a five level, five bedrooms and four bath house, perfect for our medium sized family. As we looked around, mom and dad decided to make …show more content…
I don’t know why. This person in front of me, could be mean or she could be my first friend in this unknown area. I hoped it’d be the second one. I ascended the steps and walked the path to her porch where she was sitting. As I got closer, her smile grew and so did mine! She wasn’t mean, she was sweet. I sat down next to her, and quietly said, “My name’s Mallory, what’s yours?” She replied with, “I’m Shaunna. My mom just made these cookies and I asked if I could share some with you.” She was sitting with a warm plate of chocolate chip cookies, for me! We shared some cookies and talked till my parents come back outside. What an amazing start to a new

One day in a place far away from south Michigan, a kid named Evan was running in a long race. It was an estimated 26 miles. It was his first race that he has ever participated in. His nerves were racing and his relatives were too. This race was televised to the whole state of Michigan. He didn't practice and is coming into this with no running experience. The only thing that pushed him to do this was that his dad was a four time Olympic gold medalist in running.…

While many people would probably choose to travel to another country, a foreign universe, or something even more extraordinary, there is no place I would rather go than Pawnee, Indiana, despite the fact that it doesn’t really exist. Having been a fan of the television show Parks and Recreation for quite some time now, I can confidently say that Pawnee would be the most exciting place one could go.…

When I was seven years old and almost a half my parents told me that my family was going to pack up everything, leave our home, our livelihood, and move to Idaho. I was young but I knew I was going to miss Albuquerque. I was going to miss the plump quails who walked quickly with their babies toddling behind in a straight line and the skinny, all leg, roadrunners who would sprint across the roads. I was going to miss my little Crocodile Smile green room. I had chosen the paint color, I had watched my room be painted, and I had to leave it. Abandoning my home was hard too. The front of my seashell white house had two, big, high, arched windows. They had rusty yellow stains running down beneath them that made the house look like it was crying golden tears. Near the grand maroon oak front door were some slightly overgrown, prickly rose bushes. Everyday the roses blushed and smiled at me, turning their pink and yellow faces up. I was mortified to leave my crying house with the smiling roses. The day we left, I found out we were leaving. I had convinced myself that we weren’t going to leave, but then we did. I left my home, my friends, but mostly my memories. My memories included early morning balloon fiestas, during…

In my experience, I don’t think I am reluctant to a specific identity. Houston is a very diverse city that people can find almost any type of music genre. In my community there are Hispanic and African American families. The music that is heard is of all kinds from “R&B, Pop music, Reggae, to Cumbia, Bachata and Regional Mexicano.” I have lived in the same community ever since I was born and in my opinion, I have grown up listening to the different types of music genres. This has shaped my identity to be open to different music genres and traditions.…

In 1752 I was a seventeen year old destitute living in Scotland, Ireland. I had no real skill-trade or education, but with high ambitions to learn and become a collective dependant I would earn a stable lively-hood in one of the New World colonies. I suffered losses of loved who fell sick and died with only a few remaining that were as impoverished as myself. I feared there would be no prospect of a better life in Scotland and contracted myself as an indentured servant for passage to the New World colonies. Along with many others I boarded a New World merchant ship that specialized in the trade of textiles and clothing. In exchange for travel, food, and decent health, I was sold for profit to proprietors in the New World. The voyage to New…

The day I found out I would be moving from Roseville to Alpena was probably the worst day of my life. I remember the day I found out about the move. Not only was I really upset because I would be moving away from my friends and family, but I was really scared. We were moving to the middle of nowhere, where I knew not a single person. I would be going into my 6th grade year in the fall, my first year of middle school. My brother and I did everything we could to try to sabotage the move, but sadly our plans failed. Nothing could stop this from happening. Everything I knew… was about to change.…

On Saturday April 13, 2013 I was walking through the parking garage on the USAA campus in San Antonio, TX to start my 4 hour work shift, I began to go through the turnstile and seemingly startled awake a bat. This bat began to fly and squeal in fear. It darted at my head getting caught in my hair a couple times. I started to scream and flail my arms about trying to fend off the nocturnal flying mammal in fear. During what seemed to be forever I was able to unlock the turnstile and exit the entry way but not before rupturing two discs in my neck. This incident caused quite the turn of events in my life. I had been working for USAA for 3 years and truly loved it there. I also lived in a beautiful apartment with my mother and two children and…

It was gigantic! There was a two car garage and long staircase that led up to the main floor of the home. Inside, there were big, long windows that revealed the vegetation surrounding the home. The kitchen and dining room were connected. There were about 3 bedrooms upstairs and 3 more downstairs. They even had their own elevator! Inside my room, there was a sauna, huge couch, a workout set, and a tv. Connected to the room, there was another room that had a bed and closet. There was a full bathroom down the hall. Then when you went upstairs, there was two french doors revealing a crystal blue inground pool. Around it was an eating area with a bunch of drinks and snacks. There was another bathroom next to it. There was a bunch of vegetation around the house. Next to the pool was a set of stairs that led to the boardwalk which led to the beach. It was absolutely…

"Looking for houses was supposed to be a fun and exciting process. Unfortunately, none of the ones that we saw seemed to match the specifications that we had established. They were too small, too impersonal, too close to the neighbors. After days of finding nothing even close, we began to wonder: was there really a perfect house out there for us?"…
