Personal Narrative: My First Teacher Interview
I choose to do my teacher interview at Huntley high school, which is the school I graduated from. When I was at the high school doing the interview another teacher came into the office, so I actually was able to get the opinions of two teachers. I interview my junior physical education teacher Ms. Seitz who also teaches Health Education she has taught for three years. I also was able to meet with Mr. Fahey who just started teaching this year as a first year teacher he also teaches Physical Education and Health Education. After speaking with both teachers I think you must have a very open mind to become a teacher. Not only are you there to teacher, you also need to create a good relationship with your students. You must be a good …show more content…
I think I have the drive to be involved and help others learn, just like others in my life have done for me. As of right now I haven’t thought much about my future professional growth. Seeing that in May I have just graduated from high school I have not done this yet. However, I think it is very important to make plans to recognize and build on strengths and prioritize specific areas for growth. With this being my first education class, and my first teacher interview I am looking forward to my observation hours at see things on a different level and from the teacher point of view, rather that the student view that I have alway had all my life. I know this won’t be easy and I will learn a lot more as I study this field. I understand that I will learn quickly what interest students, what students are willing to listen, which students will follow the plan, and which students need extra help. I will have to evaluate each student differently, knowing and understanding that all children learn at different levels, and some students may learn more quickly than others. After my interview I do think it is important to be open minded to teaching Health Education, Driver's Education and Physical Education, so I could be well rounded when I’m done with school and looking for a teaching

In my opinion teaching is very much like cooking, you follow the recipes and add in your own touch. Cherry Patten asked, “What Makes a good teacher? Like all good recipes, the ingredients for a teacher's success in the classroom are simple, easy to follow, and allow for personal interpretation, to enhance the result.” She's saying, yes, teachers have standards and a curriculum they have to meet, (the recipe.) but with every recipe you have a chance to put your own touch in, to make a lasting impression. I…

The student that interested me the most was a student named Justin I believe. He was tiny and wore a big blue shirt I think. He interested me the most because he seemed kind of quiet and shy and I would really like to get to know him better and get him to open up and talking to other individuals.…

Teachers often positively impact a student’s passion. I was fortunate enough to have such a teacher in my life. Ms. Hendricks, my AP Literature teacher, over the course of two years has unveiled my true passion for writing and literature. By ensuring students grasp literal concepts of the obtuse meaning of the material, she has been able demonstrate the beauty and power of words throughout every aspect of daily life. Ms. Hendricks classes instilled in me, a strong belief that writing and literature are the two most important concepts of communication. As a result, I have decided to major in communications, a field with endless career opportunities.…

The little girl that I tutored was named Helen. She is a Hispanic student in first grade. She is very quiet and I had a hard time getting information from her. But what she did tell me was that she lives with her mother and father and she said she had siblings but I couldn’t get a clear answer from her as to how many. From what she said, I think she has several brothers. She said that her father doesn’t stay with them all the time, so I don’t know if her parents are divorced or if he just goes away to work sometimes. A lot of the Hispanics that I know from home do tend to work in industries that require them to travel a lot. Her parents are from Mexico, her mother speaks fluent English but her father only speaks a little bit of English. She has just as good, if not better English than the rest of the children in her class, so there is no language barrier. She is bilingual so she speaks English and Spanish.…

The proudest moment in my high school career is when I signed myself to take my first AP class. I was really nervous about going to the meeting to sign myself up to get the summer assignment because I felt that I was not ready for the work load, and I would not be able to pass the class. My excuse for not going to the meeting was that I was helping in the cafeteria and I was going to be really late, but when I told my two best friends Jenny and Virginia that I wasn't going to take it anymore. They got so frustrated and annoyed with me because they said I was stupid if I didn’t take AP calculus because that was my favorite subject and I needed a challenge in that class. They also made me remember when I would tell them that Math Analysis was…

Time for school! Time for school! Are you excited? There was once a time when I was excited about going to school. I use to organize all of my school supplies trying to make sure I had everything that I needed. And I even use to pick out my own school clothes the night before, anxious to put them on. There were times when I thought that I’d oversleep, so I would sleep in my school clothes so that I could be already dressed and ready to go. My elementary school years were the most exciting for me though. I actually use to look forward to going to my school. Loughman Oaks Elementary was the school I attended and no one could tell me that it wasn’t the absolute best school in the world. Loughman Oaks use to have this ceremony called “Outdoor…

During my sophomore year, a senior came to me at Tutoring Society to get tutored in math. She would come to me almost every day. And just like many others I tutor, I started to get to know her better. She came from an underprivileged background and worked an evening shift at our local food store to support her family. However, this had not deterred her from participating on the cheerleading team. One day, she had to leave five minutes early to cheer at an away game. A few weeks later, she rushed out the main doors after the tutoring session to take over her friend’s shift at work. Despite her part time job and cheerleading practices, she still worked hard to pass high school and her least favorite class: math.…

I own learning was associated to reading the research papers of the other M.Ed. students, as well as through the summative evaluation done by my principal. Reading the very diverse research papers, I gain wonderful information of things I could (and will) implement in my classroom with my ELs. Some examples are related to the use of journaling for various learning opportunities, how big is the influence of motivation in relation to Hispanic males finishing high school, as well as the importance of analyzing prescribed curriculum in order to organize scaffolding activities that will assist ELs. The other learning was connected to the summative evaluation in which my principal mentioned things that I have done throughout the year. He was…

Humbled after being asked by my professor to become a Teaching Assistant for her Organic Chemistry course, I became responsible for aiding students with a subject many find challenging. I helped them solve problems during workshop hours, and organized and led additional group tutoring sessions. I listened to their questions and always strived to appropriately convey complex information. Working with each student, I recognized that they have different learning styles. By adjusting my approach for each one, we created a more productive learning environment and enhanced the retention of information. This lesson will become vital as a physician when treating patients from diverse…

When I first arrived to Richmond Early College High School, I anticipated an academic career characterized by hard work, nightly homework assignments, and incredible doses of stress that a middle school classroom could not synthesize. Although I actually landed my first college class in the second semester of my ninth grade year (ACA, which was required for all newbies and taken simultaneously by all 50 of us), I found myself still shaken. I looked forwarded to the challenges of a college experience, but merely hearing the click of my instructor's heel's as I sat in that classroom for the first time sent my bones into a furious rattle. A worrywart by nature, I was both delighted and horrified by ACA.…

Today, I wake up and can’t believe this was my life. I was becoming a man of compassion and courage. As a warrior, I fought in the Vietnam War against the North Vietnamese Communists from 1972 to 1975. As a humanitarian, I helped the teachers heal the struggling students at the Yorba Middle School from 1999 to present.…

    1) Zanna Prentiss was video recording students with her phone to post on her Snap Chat account. I kindly asked her to delete and not post the video. She then was being disrespectful for the rest of the meeting and towards the final minutes left the room with Katie Walkama. When the meeting finished both of them and Josh Bent came back into the room, and asked me to speak with them outside of the room to discuss about what had happened. I explained to them that these kids were under my responsibility at that time and, that nobody can film or audio record anybody without permission. I have signed commitment contracts from those students, meaning they agreed to the Real Talk handbook…

My educational experience throughout my life has been a rollercoaster ride. The rollercoaster first shot out in high school where I realized that this next four years will matter. At first it was a slow start to the ride; I started off my first year of high school with a cumulative GPA of a 2.8 but it started to go back up as I began to take responsibility and organize myself. My next three years showed to pay dividend as my GPA drove back, but not as high as I wanted it. During these 4 years, is where I learned that it’s difficult to rise once a hole has been dug. Starting off at Montgomery College I took what I learned and put it to use. My first year is where I made sure this rollercoaster was only going to have small drops. In my past educational…

I remember it like it was yesterday. Elementary school; second grade; Ms. Rubright’s class to be exact. We were being lined up like cattle going to the slaughterhouse, so we could go on a bathroom break in an orderly fashion. My teacher called on my table, and we stood up and walked over to the line being as quiet as church mice; since that was what was expected by our teacher. It almost seemed like a medieval form of punishment, the way they made us wait half a century before we could actually exit the classroom and use the restrooms. My friend, Matt, a chunky red-head who was always pushing his glasses up on his stubby nose, came to stand behind me after his table was called to line up. At the time I was happy to be standing in line to…
