During more than half of my seventh grade year I caught a virus.Which made me weak and sent me to the hospital for a month I did not go back to school right away. During that time I fell behind in school and because my grades dropped significantly. This was not going to make me end the year off with bad grades because I studied hard to end the year off with good grades. After I came out of the hospital. This motivated me to work twice as hard and to catch up with my classmates. The second time I went to the hospital, I was there for about nine days and on the ninth day I got a wheelchair. The wheelchair was for me to help me get around because when I stood up I would start to wobble. The wheelchair was to help me get around like in school and …show more content…
This made me feel out of place because I love sports , and not being able to do PE made me feel sad and out of place. This was very different because I was usually very active and I do not like to be sitting down doing nothing. Being back in school was very different. When I got to my classes it was very different I did not know where I was going to sit because the desks had a chair attached to them. At the beginning, it was a little bit difficult, but then I got the hang of it. I would get into class and the teacher and I had arranged where I would sit in class, I was going to sit where a regular desk was . A regular desk was a desk that had a chair that was constructed with it. I would always use a folder as my desk this helped me write anything the teacher assigned. I would only go to school for a couple of classes because that was what my doctor had approved. My goal was to go to school just like my sisters and everyone else, the whole day of school. I have been slowly able to achieve my goal of going to school all

Instead of being viewed a human with rights, thoughts, and feelings they are viewed as a mistake or tragedy. Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

In the piece by co-authors Paula Fernandes, Nelson DeBarros, and Li Li, as well as the piece written by Georgina Kleege, we can see how these authors use rhetorical devices in order to draw in and persuade their audience on the topic of disability. Through a deep and thorough analysis of the texts, we will be able to understand how their focus on certain rhetorical elements and techniques creates flow in their writing, how the ideas motivating their writing are expressed, as well as how these elements combined create an effective narrative on the topic they are trying to discuss. The topics, though surrounding the topic of disability, use very different approaches and have very different targets with their works, with one being especially…

There has been many cases in which I have helped an outsider feel welcome. One time in particular is when I played tag with this little boy at church since he was new and no one else played with him. Originally, I was outside eating candy and talking to my friends at church. I noticed that this little boy was standing all alone watching all the other little kids play without him. I thought that maybe he was upset so I went over to him and asked if he wanted the rest of my gummy worms. He seemed nervous at first, but eventually he started talking to me. I learned that he was five years old and he was visiting his grandparents for the weekend. His older brother was outside playing basketball with some of the other older boys at the church, and…

I will never forget that day. I was about 11 or 12, going into my last year of middle school. I remember the way my grandmother and my father sat me down in my grandmother’s lavishly decorated living room. The tenderness of their voices and the pointed looks they gave each other alerted me to the fact that something was just not right. After a few more minutes of mental preparation, they dropped the bomb on me that affects me even until this day: my mother, a longtime recovering drug addict, had relapsed.…

Still, a lot of downfalls came into play. I skipped classes enough to lose count and I mainly put on a false front that I was sick just to stay home. In addition to never doing my homework, and when I did I copied from a classmate. Which I later realized wasn’t the best choice when it came to tests. Immediately upon commence of junior year I was called into the office for a meeting with the dean and my mother. The dean carefully evaluated my grades and came to a conclusion, with my mother’s approval, that I should be transferred to a continuation high school, considering I was behind seventy credits. So the changes were made and I was transferred…
