The tradition of gift giving did show up in colonial America, with an interesting twist. People gave gifts to their dependents, whether it is to servants, apprentices, or children. People did not return the gift giving to their superiors. And the gift giving was not the elaborate ordeal that it is today. Each recipient would most likely receive one special treasure. And the gifts were more treasured than they are today.…

One horrible day, about 3 or 4 years ago. I woke up and all of the feeling in my legs were gone. I tried to get out of bed but my bed is a top bunk with a desk underneath it so It was hard to get out of bed. I tried to use my legs but they were lifeless. They wouldn't move so it was all upper body strength getting down from my bed. Finally, I got down from my bed tried to walk but I couldn’t. So all I could do is yell, so I started screaming “Dad! Dad!” Then I blacked out. I woke up a while later in the car, when I asked my dad where we were going he said the doctors. I looked at the time on my phone, It was 9:30!! Credibility / goodwill: After I made my first book, I got several compliments on it. Afterward, I came to the conclusion it might make a great mantelpiece, or even a desk ornament. Itsinthestars.com/us shows a survey taken in 2012 that states “The average person ends up purchasing 16 gifts or more a year.” Gift buying can add up quickly so I have found that it is nice to have a backup plan in case you’re broke at the time. Surely some of us in this very room have come to this dilemma so I am hoping to provide an idea for such an occasion.…

I come from the backwoods. A small town where chaos use to reign. A place haunted by a 'No blacks past dark' past. A place that most people call a ‘godforsaken hellhole' or where the KKK started. That’s the place I call home. Waking up every morning to the revving of diesel trucks and fourwheelers. Staying up late hours of the night sippin' sweet tea on the front porch waiting to hear the hogs to get us some bacon for the morning. A town where everyone knows everyone is an understatement. If you get in trouble and think your going to hide it from your mama well you're plum out of luck. Chances are she knew 5 minutes after it happened along with the rest of the town from Mary beth (true story). The housewives craved for drama and fake eyelashes and the men well if they weren't at work then they are most likely at the deer lease. If you follow the smell of gas and smoke you'll find the young adults drinking, dancing, and hanging out around a bonfire that I guarantee is bigger than your house.…

Do not offer gift that is obviously expensive and run of mill. If your gift is obviously expensive, it will make the recipient feel uncomfortable and refuse to take it because it might look like you trying to bribe them especially in business context or with government official agencies. And by Run of the mill it means common stuff such as things that the recipient already has or they buy it frequently. Because it can interpret that you are careless.…

Flowers and cards paint the room in endless wonder. Presents line the walls and children rush through the room, picking ones up as they go, until not a vestige (p. 42) of presents was in sight. “Thank you Mr. Scrooge!” they say, creating quite the tumult (p. 49). It always did put a smile on Ebenezer Scrooge’s face to see the children of the neighborhood so cheerful. He now knows that he has done…

When a ‘gift’ is given or accepted – regardless of the intention of the gift-giver - it can give the wrong impression and the ‘appearance’ that whatever has transpired is not on the ‘up and up’. In other words, what may have been an innocent gesture – could be interpreted as just the opposite and can blur the lines of integrity, fairness and trust.…

The role of doctors, nurses and physicians in general is to help out their patients and make them healthy. The patients pay for their treatment, but some may feel that their payment is not enough or may want to give extra. This exchange of money for service is extremely personal since this service is the provider of their continued health, or at least genuine attempts to do so. Since it is so personal, patients may feel that they are still in debt to their healthcare providers even if proper payment was done. These patients may give their healthcare professional a gift to show their thanks. Should the healthcare professional accept or reject these gifts? Currently, it seems that the decision is up to the healthcare professional’s discretion.…
