Personal Narrative: My Experience At Vacation Bible School
During the year of 2010, the summer before eighth grade year. I got the chance to participate in a five day youth mission trip in Galveston Texas with my church that went by the name of Oakwood Baptist Church. During the mission trip there would be many different activities that our church group would get to be a part of, such as an outdoor dodge ball tournament, indoor carnivals, and our very own Vacation Bible School. I was able to take part in this amazing adventure, and I couldn’t wait for it to begin.
The morning of the trip everyone that was participating in the event met at our children center for our church at 6:30 am. Then we were on our way with only three hours ahead of us in our very own charter busses. These huge vehicles had everyone’s very own television station, and an air conditioner system that you could control to your liking. The

Which was where we talked about Christ and the Bible, and listened to the different stories from the kids, and everything that they had been through. Introducing them to a man that could change them and their lives for ever was amazing because they asked so many questions and some of them weren’t as positive as others, because they didn’t believe in him but in most situations the kids had never even heard of someone named God, and being the person to introduce him to them was amazing and incredible. Even at the young age that I was at I still was able to impact their lives and it was the best feeling a girl at my age could receive. Still to this day I will always remember the impact those young kids had on the outlook on my life and the way that I was able to comfort them, and be the one that they talked to. Returning home was nice, but I will always remember George and his family and the other kids that I met that week, and that will forever change my life and how I see things now in a positive way. , and from a different

I never thought how interesting it would be to visit a different place of worship besides Christianity. Since the day I was born I’ve been a Christian and whatever anyone else believes in is wrong and that they are going to hell if they don’t believe in Christianity. About 3 years ago I visited the International Buddhist Progress Society a Buddhist temple in Naperville. Buddhism from what I learned looks more like a way of life or guidelines to it rather than a religion. Buddhism tells you how you could live life better but doesn’t scare you with the prospect of hell instead you live with ignorance. My own history with Christianity still made me doubt or fear the conquences of going to this temple. Part of me believed that I be punished by…

Upon arriving at The Tulsa Day Center at 8 a.m. I was overwhelmed when I noticed that the line into the building had already surpassed the door and was almost to the parking lot. After weaving through the crowd of people attempting to get inside the building, I explained to the security officers that I was a volunteer and proceeded through the metal detector. The Officer then instructed me to sign in, and pointed me to the clothing room where I would report to Forrest. After a couple of seconds of trying to figure out where I was going I stumbled into the clothing room, and introduced myself to Forrest. He was excited to have some help. He took me over to 3 extra-large laundry baskets and asked me to fold all of the blankets and sheets while…

I was a percussionist during my high school tenure. As a school musician during my freshman year, I was in the high school band at both Northwest Christian and Dayton Christian. I went to Northwest during the first two quarters of my freshman and the high school band only had one concert, Then, I switched over to Dayton Christian during the last two quarters of my freshman year. The Dayton Christian High School Band was much larger than Northwest’s and performed two concerts, one at the Dayton Christian Cafeteria, and one out at Cedarville University. It’s funny how we try to fool ourselves into thinking we have any control of our lives. We live with the idea that we have full authority over our choices and our days. In early 1989, My husband, Charles, and I were living in Charleston SC and had just been blessed with our first baby girl. Bringing her home had put my Master’s Degree on hold, and my husband felt that this would be a perfect time for us to move, but I quickly nixed his plan.…

Three years later I met James Cox. He was living with his Mother’s Pastor Charles and his wife. We met on the job and became friends. James passed his physical for the fire department and he wanted to go out to celebrate. He took me to a very nice restaurant called Max House. Once we were seated he smile and said thank you for accepting my invitation. I brought you here to show you how much I appreciate you for working the extra hours and allow me to get paid for it. Few people would work another’s shifts and gave them the hours. That was the only way he could go through his training and still keep his pay. I had not minded doing that for him. While we sat in the restaurant he thanked me repeatedly for helping him. Then he told me about his life. He came to New York…

I entered school in August of 2009 and did not focus on my studies. After just one year my GPA was a 1.376, because I did not have the drive that I had in high school to succeed. After a couple of years away from Texas Christian University, while attending a 2-year college, I realized what I wanted to do with my life, sparking the motivation I had been searching for. I then decided to return to TCU and fix my awful GPA, which I managed to do with hard work, determination, and appropriate priorities. After one year of nonstop studying and focus, I have managed to raise my GPA to a 2.777, removing myself from academic probation and qualifying for opportunities I was not eligible before. This was difficult for me because I also work part-time…

Before this year I was always dead set on being a high school history teacher and thought that I never wanted to teach anything else. During the fall semester I was placed in a sixth grade class for my observation hours and at first I was kind of upset about it. Once I experience a middle school classroom I was still on the fence about what grades I wanted to teach, but I figured I would take this course anyway. I am so happy I did because I decided I want to do my student teaching in middle school. I have realized this is such a unique time in children’s lives and I want more of the molding aspect rather than solely teaching like at the high school level. I want to not only educate students in history, but also have it relate to their every…

The person I choice to interview this week just like last week is also someone I turn to when I am faced with questions and concerns regarding all of my biblical classes and sometimes just personal spiritual questions. That person is my pastor and my father in law who has been a southern Baptist preacher for over thirty years. Of those thirty years he has only been pastor of two churches both, which have been very successful while he was and is presently the pastor. When we talk about anything and everything overall we have a great relationship. I choose to interview him this week because I knew he would be able to show me the more experienced side of his ministry because of his years of serving the lord.…
