Personal Narrative: Mr. Syme's Journey
I woke up the next day and I prepared to go to school. I organized my papers and walked out of my house. As I walked out, I saw a blue Mustang drive towards me. Through the car window, I saw that it was Randy pulling up. “Hey Pony, what you doing?” asked Randy. “Oh I’m just walking to school so I can turn in my English theme.” I replied. “Do you need a ride?” “It’s fine, I need to practice running for next year’s track anyways.” With that, he drove away and I started running to school, trying to pace myself. As I got there, I took a deep breath and walked in through the gates. As the bell rang, I rushed to Mr. Syme’s class and I sat down. Usually I would just doze off and stare at the windows but today, it was different. I had actually paid attention to Mr. Syme because I was inspired by all the battles between the Greasers and Socs. I decided that I wanted to go to college and get a scholarship so that I can get a job and finally start helping around in the house. After class was over, I handed Mr. Syme the papers and …show more content…
We had substitute teacher since that day I turned my essay. However, today Mr. Syme had came back. He was acting more cheery today and he had also told me to stay after class for a bit.
“Ponyboy, I need you to sit down because I have some really big news for you.” I sat down on a nearby chair nervously, thinking that I was in trouble. “I just published your essay and millions of people are buying it all around the world. I titled it The Outsiders. Oh yeah, you might want to look in your mailbox because money might be coming in.”
“Mr. Syme! You didn’t have to do that you know!” I replied still in shock.
“I know but I thought that your family might have needed a little extra something so I published your essay.” After our conversation, I walked out of his classroom with a huge grin on my face and I hurried to my next class, hoping to get the school day over with so he can get back

32 “Well its actually happening ma’, I’m goin’ back to school.”Rufus said. “I want you to know, I truly am proud of you Rufus.” His mother replied. Curtis and Janet went to a different school then Rufus but he still walked them to school then walked himself to school. On his way to school a car followed him very slowly but Rufus kept walking. When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. But he didn’t have a car? Rufus ran to the office to explain the…

The steam from his drink coated his glasses, and behind the mug I could see a toothless smile and a dark shiny grey beard. He gestured for my dad and I to come in. I stepped my way up into the overcrowded room full of mustard yellow couches. Not only did the place looked run down, and about to fall apart but, the place smelled like the worst mixture of rotten foods you could imagine. My dad and I’s facial expressions to each other said it all about this place. Once we had found our way, we filled out some application forms. During the process, I stood beside my dad, searching to find another girl taking the class. I looked forever only to find that there were no other girls…

This essay tries to show that students are not alone. Whenever they are frustrated, there are teachers to help them. Maybe, this might be true, but I think about how many students really depend on teachers when they feel frustrated. I don’t want to be negative, but, though teachers are always sitting in their office, there are just a few students who look for them to talk about something. This is the reality, so I feel like this story is just about a utopia that we have ever dreamed. For me, teachers are still on a top of line and they are the people who I can’t approach easily because of their status. This is the reason that I was mad a little bit because the reality that I live is not in the same situation like the story.…

That crazy dream! The guy was in a dream I had a couple of nights before. I remembered waking up around two o'clock in the morning with the conviction that it was some kind of warning. The next morning I'd dismissed it from my mind, thinking it was ridiculous. Now I wished like hell I could remember the dream and how it ended. I turned for a quick glance at my passenger, hoping I'd recall the dream if I saw his face again.…

As a senior in high school, I was looking forward to going to college. I was so anxious to be out on my own, and explore new freedom without any adult supervision. I was going to be totally on my own soon, and I could hardly stand having to wait until that upcoming August. My parents were not only proud of me for my academic grades, they were also proud of me for the softball scholarship I had received to Valdosta State University. At that time in my life, everything seemed to be going just right. Little did I know, my life was about to significantly change forever.…

“I got accepted to Clemson!” Chad had screamed with excitement as he opened the neatly sealed Clemson orange tinted acceptance letter, and Cole similarly screamed: “Well I got accepted to James Madison!”, for he had gotten a purple tinted acceptance letter from James Madison. My whole family and I congratulated them on the accomplishment of being admitted into the colleges that they had worked so diligently to get in, that they wanted so bad to get into. The dinner table that night was ecstatic and full of energy, and we had a grand feast like the ones they might have had in Rome or another great empire. After dinner was finished being cleaned up, and we had all happily trudged off to our rooms and such other places for the rest of the night, and I was enjoying playing video games and talking to my brothers, just having the best and most thrill ridden night with them; but that would change in the following weeks.…
