Personal Narrative: Joining The Air Force
I recall the feeling of my eardrums popping, a quick stinging sensation, and then quickly grabbing my nose and blowing out as hard as I could to equalize the pressure in my ears. I was now sitting on the bottom of a 20 foot deep pool, minimal air left in my lungs. As I rested at the bottom of the pool, lungs beginning to burn, I was not nervous or worried about my situation. I loved the water, it is where I am the most comfortable. I had done this multiple times, swim as deep as possible, relax for a few seconds, and then slowly glide back up to the surface. However, this was the last time I would do this because the next day I left to join the Air Force. The point of my story is not to tell you about my hobby for diving, but of how I welcome uncomfortable and difficult situations, adapt to them, and then overcome them with ease. I am a brother, a son, a student, a friend, an Airman. I am someone who rises to the occasion to the conquer the most strenuous of tasks. I wake up everyday not trying to be better than anyone else, but the person I was the day before. I strive to be the change I want to see in the world and help as many as I can along the way. I not only want to be an educator because I enjoy teaching what I love, I want to be an educator because the future relies on the youth. I want to stand in front of America's youth and teach them valuable lessons that they can use inside and outside of the classroom to be prosperous individuals not only to themselves, but to this country. I strive to be an educator not only inside the classroom but outside as well. I will never let my education or my learning stop, because to succeed at being the best of me I must continue to grow and develop. To be better everyday. To be a role model to my family, my friends, my future students, to my country. And I will not
