Personal Narrative Essay: Breaking The Collarbone At Elite
Can you imagine breaking your collarbone and you can hardly breath. That is what it felt like when I broke my collarbone at elite.

It was a cold Saturday morning. My dad and I were heading to a softball and baseball clinic called elite. I had a feeling that I did not really get this feeling this often.;;; I had butterflies in my stomach. I had my All Star shirt on. I also had my high red socks on with my black softball pants.

We were at elite. Finally what felt like an eternity, we were there.

“Ready ava.” My dad said in a happy voice.
“Yep always ready” I replied.

I ran into my friend Jamison. All of a sudden somebody calls warm up. I had to of course or else I would pull something.

The first thing we did is karaoke. Then

We were about to run the bases. I knew how fast I was compared to Jamison. She was one of the fastest girls I knew.

I was 2nd in line, I never thought in a million years that my ankle started to hurt, I had to stretch a little bit my ankle. We were running to first base. As soon as the first girl went it was my turn. I sprinted as fast as I could, I couldn't stop…..as I approached the base my cleat caught the grave my collarbone landed weird on the base and it felt like broke.. . My dad came sprinting over to me. My face felt like a waterfall was over my face.

Before I knew it my dad was carrying me to the car when he told me that everything will be fine, but nothing was fine.

As we came to a stop at the hospital, I felt like it was the end of the world.
We walked in when suddenly the took me to a room which was dark with x rays everywhere. They had me sit down. They did a quick x ray and had me sit in a room which looked big. My heart couldn't stop beating.

After what felt like 5 hours they came back with the result that I broke my collarbone. Now that I am older and I look back at that moment I always look at my collarbone and wonder if it looked different than my other collarbone, I also feel stronger from that

It was the middle of the summer and I was playing baseball in Jackson, Mississippi. I was playing for the Goodlettsville All-Stars. We were playing in the little league 10u world series. To get to the championship we had to win 8 games and it was single elimination. We had won 7 out of 8 games and we were playing our 8th game and it was the bottom of the third and I was playing left field. In the second inning I was felling drowsy so my dad gave me a Snickers and a Red Bull. I was for sure not drowsy anymore. I could feel the sugar rushing through my veins and I was on the balls of my feet waiting for the pitch to be thrown. When my pitcher threw the ball I had my hand in my glove ready for the ball if it was hit to me. WHAM! The ball was hit so far up in the air it looked like it hit the sun. When I realized that the ball was coming to me I was way too far back so I had to run as fast as I could and dive for the ball. I jumped as far as I could and stretched as far as I could. I barely caught it by snow coning the ball. Everybody was so proud of me that the screamed as loud as they could. We went on to win the game 4-1. The next day I woke up, jumped out of the bed, and put my uniform on. I was so excited, I was in the championship! I…

So I got ready and left my house at 3:30 on the way there I took a nap to get rested for the game. So I got there a hour and a half early so when I got there I just kinda sat around and waited for all the other players to get there and so we could start warming up so when the catcher Liam Nash got to the field me and him were throwing like short toss and then we throw like long toss to really stretch out are arms. After we did that me and Liam took a break and got…

The first day of try outs, I stepped out on the field with a nervous feeling in my stomach but a confident look on my face. Among the girls I was the smallest and the youngest, but I never let that discourage me. I was a fourteen year old girl passionate about the sport with a bit of natural talent, but had more than enough to learn. I was trying out for second base along with two older girls who were both bigger and had more experience. I was doing everything it took to prove to the coach and to the girls that I was worthy of a starting position. It was a long stressful week of tryouts, but I made it through feeling confident that I had made the team, yet I was still nervous because anything could happen. The coach finally posted the list of the names of the girls who made the team. I waited eagerly for the older girls to move so I could see the list; when I finally got to the front and saw my name on the list, I was excited but more relieved than anything. It was like a huge weight off my chest, but I knew I still had a long way to go. We had about a month until our first preseason game, and until then we wouldn't know who was starting in each position.…

The only problem was my phone, backpack, all my football gear was still at the field. I remember wishing my mom was here and soon enough my mom came into the room. I was so happy she came because I didn't know anyone there and it was scary being alone. Not a single coach came with me. After the doctors said that I am good to leave we soon left. The doctors said to not do any activities in a week. With that being I gave it a week but I should have waited some more time.…

As a defender I’ve learned when the perfect time to attack the ball is. The girl was running onto what we call a “through ball”. It was a fifty, fifty ball. We both came in on the ball hard and fearless. It all happened so fast. We both hit the ball at the same time, my foot on one side and hers on the other. Next thing I knew I was looking at the night sky with the bottom part of my left leg pointed out. Almost as in a “L” shape. The pain hit right away. I remember my reaction was immediately tears. All I wanted to do was try and move it, but I…

In the course of my life, I have had quite a few scars. One physical scar was when I tripped, and landed on a rock, and cut my forehead. But the most memorable, was when I was eight years old, I was hurt when I accidentally landed on a table after being hit by a pillow. As a result, I had a wide open cut on the top of my head near my forehead from the landing. I was scarred for life. This was my second scar after I had the former at an earlier age.…

I made my own decision that I would continue to play football, after I got done with recovery. Probably asking in your mind,”Well why do you have to go to rehab?’’ Good question, It was my first game back from my first mishap, where I dislocated my shoulder. I had been playing a little that night, but not a whole lot because it was my first game back and I didn't know much about the position I was playing. It was kickoff, and I was on the very end of the field, in my position ready to make the tackle, bound and determined i was gonna make it. I made the tackle, but it didn't go the way i had planned it to go. Instead of making the tackle and standing up and cheering with the team, I made the tackle and laid on the ground in so much pain i thought…

There I was laying on the field, during the second half of my football game, tossing and turning as I held my right shoulder in agonizing pain. I looked up only to see the trainer looking down at me with a concerned look. “What’s wrong?” he asked. Repeatedly I tapped my shoulder as I was struggling to get the words out. He helped me up and walked me back to the sideline. I waited for what seemed like hours for the game to end. A few days later, I went to a local doctor to get an X-ray. The doctor told me that there was nothing wrong and that the pain should subside in a couple of days, and it did. Later in the season as I went in for a tackle, I felt my shoulder pop. Immediately I was in pain and thought to myself, “ It happened again.” This…
