What a crazy busy week! I still can’t believe the opportunity that I was afforded this week. Sometimes things happen sooner than I expect them to which can catch me off guard. Because of how well I am doing at work I was asked to interview for a higher position within the company. Without much time to prepare I still made sure that I took at least an hour to stop and think about how this promotion could affect my life in many ways. I made a list of pros and cons of promoting and transferring stores at this time and what would be expected of me in the new position along with how many additional hours would be required of me if I were to promote as I already work 40 hours per week. I am always up for a challenge and just the experience of going through the interview will prove beneficial in the future. As I didn’t want to burn any bridges I also made it very clear that taking this promotion at this time is something that I have to give careful consideration to. As nervous as I was I held my head up high with my shoulders back I walked in with confidence, gave a firm handshake, and a rock solid interview. The company will be making a decision next week which allows me a couple extra days to sleep on my decision if offered the position. As my mom has often told me “If you are blessed with the time to make an important decision, always allow yourself the extra time.” She also reminded me how important it is to keep on track with the time span that I have allowed myself to earn my degrees and how important my education is above all. My mentor from work also reminded me that my education is something that can never be taken away from me and not to be distracted by offers that will always be available at some point even after earning my degrees. As both my mentor and my mom pointed out that all the advice in the world wouldn’t do any good unless I truly listen and implement what I feel is best
