Personal Narrative: A Centaur From Greek Mythology
A centaur is a mythological being from Greek Mythology. They are part man and half horse. I have always had an interest in them for as long as I can recall. This fascination was so great that I created Samuel, the eight foot three centaur. The time it took over five years to completely draw him . Drawing Samuel began in the fifth grade, when my fascination was at its peak. Around this time I had also began my drawing career. When i started to draw him he had short wavy hair that was a pale blond. Every time i drew him he looked so hideous and would make me cringe when I laid my eyes upon him. The tedious times I tried to draw Samuel was pain staking. It made me so frustrated at myself I even began to tell myself “You will never make this right!”.

At the time I had no idea how to draw a horse due to me mainly drawing people. So each time I drew his lower half it was so cringe worthy so i would map him out but that would fail miserably every time. It eventually became so frustrated with Sam’s body I would slowly lose my determination. With determination lowly going its own way I also began to lose hope in drawing Samuel. It was in ninth grade I decided to give Samuel one more shot. When the tiring and tedious work was over he looked exquisite! Samuel's type was a Clydesdale horse,the horses with the fur on their hooves, with an equally long tail to go with his long ponytail. With his bottom now done I could finally draw him as a complete being.
Samuel’s new look composed of him having long hair, blue eyes and bangs that almost covered his eye. He has a white tunic shirt that covers where his two bodies merge. Samuel’s lower half is a Clydesdale dirty blond like his hair. He also had a satchel on both bodies so he can carry items for his long journeys. With Samuel now complete as a being I could draw him when and wherever I wanted to. This experience has taught me more then one thing like to never give up on
