Personal Narrative: A Career In The Field Of Education
During the past eighteen years, I have strived to become a well-rounded student. As I approach completion of my freshman year of college, I still have many thoughts on what courses I am going to take to further my education in the years coming. My chosen career path is elementary education where I can teach and be a positive role model on children.
There are many goals I have set for myself so I am able to further my career choice. Being enrolled in Blue Mountain Community College now and then New Mexico State University, taking advantage of the courses offered in my field of education, and to learn from my instructors experiences are all goals I wish to achieve.
One thing I have done to prepare myself for this career direction is volunteering

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

My greatest influences are my parents and my brother. My brother suffered from Guillain- Barre Syndrome when he was eight. My parents and my brother devoted their few years completely for his treatment. Today, my brother is a successful engineer working in the bay area. My education will never be complete. This knowledge affords me the ability to grow each and every day. It teaches me to question the world and to learn from these questions. I learn through different lenses and circumstances I experience each day. At seventeen, I am nowhere near complete. I am young. I am flawed. I am naïve. What I have learned has led me down different paths in order to achieve different milestones on my own journey. I am strong. I am creative. I am poised...but most importantly I am learning. My education has allowed me to learn about myself, about others, and about the world. I am evolving through the educational process and through the effort of acquiring knowledge. I have no idea what I will learn tomorrow --some days…

I began at colleges such as Wake Forest, Clemson, and University of Tennessee at Knoxville. But I could tell that these schools just weren’t for me. My mother became fed up because I did not find interest in the schools I thought I would fall in love with.…

I started working at Samsung call center as a full time employee. The job had excellent benefits, and room for growth and advancement. While I was working there I thought it was what I wanted, but as time progressed I realized it may not be for me. I had been out of school for 2 years when I accepted this job, so I wasn’t quite sure as to what career path I wanted to take. My decision at the time was to work full time and remain productive with that. Sometime you have to make a few changes within in yourself in order to grow as a person. Just because a certain job makes a decent amount of money doesn’t necessarily mean it is suitable for you.…
