Personal Learning Paper No. 2, Organization Behaviour
Dr. Noel Jones, PhD
Date: April 17th, 2015

INTRODUCTION I have studied Organization behaviour for another one week. I did get more, a lot of knowledge but in very interesting and relaxing ways. This second personal learning paper is about what I have learned for the last week, both theories and lessons of life. Figuring out what and how to apply it to my own life, I recognize that it is not simply Organization behaviour anymore, it is living experiences.

The first thing I want to mention is leadership. We had a whole session to discuss about this topic, the true ability to influence a group toward a set of goal. What I remember is the idea of “The leader is like water”. A leader should be flexible enough when leading people. They should depend on cases and situations, then make a right decision. My father is the manager of a bank. He really knows how to be flexible when leading people. He gives prominence to communication with his employees and encouraging team work. He does not always say “no”, but does not always say “yes”. His employees have space to show their ideas, their opinions and he will consider them very carefully by both his mind and his heart. If there are some problems happening, he wil react depending on what happened and gives solution. There are many conflicting sources of information to deal with, such as employees’ background, making immediate decisions to solve customers’ arising problems and so on. My father and his colleagues are not very far away from each other. It is true that in Vietnam, power distance is big and people care a lot about hierarchy. However, my father tries to shorten this gap and communicate much with his colleagues. Once a year, his bank organizes a trip in order to get people closer and not to feel distant. The environment during each trip is really friendly and seems like everybody had fun together. The

There are many desirable, non-existing, and undesirable behaviors in a person’s life. We might have those desirable behaviors that we want to strengthen. Then we also have non-existing behaviors that we want to start. But sometimes we all might have those undesirable behaviors that we want to prevent from happening. We have those undesirable behaviors that are really taking a toll on our precious time and life. Those people, me included, really need to find ways to break those undesirable behaviors.…

Identifying one's own learning style and time management is valuable; not only for educational success, but to improve personal assets as well. Exploring different learning styles has allowed me to determine my strengths and weaknesses and learn from them. Aside from that, it has given me the reassurance of returning to school. My ability to think logically, use reason, and problem solving have always given me benefits over others in life experiences. I have found myself to be weakest in classes in which the teacher presents information in a written language format or in other visual formats like pictures or diagrams. Things like memorization of facts and definitions, explanations…

Phobia is where a person is afraid of certain things or situations such as being or speaking in public, snakes, spiders, dogs, clowns, or open spaces. Acrophobia is an informal learning experience of being afraid of heights. This type of phobia belongs to a specific classification of phobias known as space and motion discomfort. Acrophobia can be dangerous, as victims can suffer an anxiety attack in a high place and become too anxious to get down cautiously. I suffer from a severe degree of acrophobia that prevents me from renting an apartment on any floor other than the ground floor. When I did live on the second floor of an apartment complex, I had to keep my window blinds closed causing my claustrophobia to kick in, which in turn, caused a severe anxiety attack. People with acrophobia may also experience other phobias or types of anxiety. I suffer from several phobias like being in public, spiders, closed spaces, and heights but was also diagnosed with bipolar II, PTSD, and anxiety disorder. Acrophobia can have a negative effect on a person’s life by restricting their job possibilities or where to go for vacation and one’s regular day-to-day situations such as changing a light bulb in a ceiling fan or hanging new window curtains.…
