Personal Essay: Softball
I was about 5 years old when I was starting to learn softball. I was thinking about it because it looked fun I personally think that something to do during the spring, summer, and fall is a good way to go if don’t want to be lazy. In softball you have to know the basics like catching, batting, throwing, and never give up. I was so bad at softball when I started out but then my couch and some of my team helped me out. I felt a bit like I was an outcast because almost everyone on the team made fun of me because I was the only one that did not know how to play softball at the time, but I got private lessons from my couch and some of my teammates helped me in my private lessons those are the kind of friends I want they could have been playing on …show more content…
I think I might try some new things in the future because trying new things makes you become what you are if you just ate the same kind of food over and over again without trying something new the people who made it might stop making it and you won’t have anything else unless you try something new. This changed the way I think about trying new things because if I did not try softball number 1 I would have never met my team and new friends. Number 2 I would not be as active I would just sit there playing on my phone or IPad all day doing nothing. Softball is a good way to use your energy, hang with friends, smiling, and last but most importantly not least have fun while you play that is what softball and teams are all about if you are that one person that just sits down on a couch and plays on their electronics on day try playing softball it is really fun. Softball is a really fun sport that you can play against your friends on other teams and go to school or an other place to just talk about how you won or

As a child, I grew up carrying a baseball glove and a pearly white baseball wherever I went, hoping for the chance of finding a partner to play catch with. The game of baseball was never just a game for me; it was a lifestyle that I had fallen in love with. With that being said, the fundamentals of baseball had no immediate effect on me as a kid. However, as I have matured along with my love for baseball, I believe that the game my life has been centered around for nearly twelve years has shaped me into the person I am today.…

The best way to really enjoy softball by watching it is live. You get to actually be there and see the players in person, you will really know what’s going on. Also maybe your favorite college player hits a foul or homerun ball and you could actually see it in person instead of Tv or just hear it on the radio. I like to watch games so I can learn from the players and coaches so it’s better to watch it live so you can really get the feel of the game.…

Adversity comes in all shapes and sizes, varying from person to person. We are all faced with different challenges to overcome and different obstacles to face. In the spring of 2016, the UNA Softball team faced many challenges before becoming National Champions. From beginning to end, the Lady Lions did not have it so easy, as many thought it seemed. With a 60-7 record we faced losses, not only on the field but off the field as well.…

I came from a family of really athletic people. My Mom and sister Kaitlyn both played softball from a young age and had many great accomplishments. My sister Kassidy played soccer from a young age as well. I have a lot to live up to. I started playing soccer when I four and I played for one year until I was no longer interested in it anymore. I started softball when I was five, and it wasn’t my favorite. I then retreated back to soccer for a few years. When I was in second grade, I cut my ankle on the bowl that my dog broke when I was trying to get cereal because I was hungry. After that I really didn’t want to play soccer anymore, so I decided to retire my soccer cleats forever. After this, I tried various different ranging from swim team to softball, and as you can imagine, softball stuck. When it did though, it came with my hot-headed personality showing. There was no way around it. I was also very independent, which could be a good thing in some cases, but as I got older I was required to do more group work. I just didn’t know how to.…

“Just try it.” These were the words that my dad used to encourage me to try baseball. Before this moment, soccer was the only sport I played. Since I could remember, I have always enjoyed playing soccer; attending practices of my local recreational team . As a kid at the age of 7, I loved the rush of joining the kids from both teams to recklessly chase the same ball looking like a pack of headless chickens. I felt the parents had as much fun watching the game as the kids did playing the game. Despite my enjoyment of playing soccer, I was curious to find out if I would like any other sport.…

It is the bottom of the ninth and I was last at bat. The ball came zooming towards me at a high rate of speed. The vibration of metal meeting leather rang out in my hands. No hesitation was made. I dropped the bat and ran as fast as I could to first base. My coach was telling me to keep going because the ball was fumbled. I rounded third base and my coach motioned for me to take it home with a slide. Down I went. Dust was flying. The crowd was standing and cheering loudly as the referee motions and yells, “Safe!” All I heard was screaming as dust still loomed the air around me. I could manage to see my team going wild, jumping, and screaming. Everyone seemed to be celebrating except me.…

I started playing softball in fifth grade, and I loved it all with a burning passion; however I quit my senior year. It was stressful mentally, physically, and emotionally. It began to take a real toll on me. I have the body of a ninety year old as it is, and all of the endless drills were not doing my body any justice. The late nights of coming home after a game and having to eat, shower, and do homework made me extremely tired the next day.
