people attend college for a lot of reasons
people attend college for a lot of reasons
To my mind, people attend college for many different reasons, such as preparation for their future career, getting new experiences about people and places and for increasing their knowledge based on the area of studying that they have chosen.
I think, the most important reason for people to attend a university is for preparation of their career.
Definitely everyone needs money for satisfaction of their basic needs, namely, food, clothes, medical treatment and things like that, therefore, a good career and a good income can be an important motive for people to attend a college. In addition, a good career can create reputation and possibly fame for them.
Another reason for people to attend college or university is getting new experiences about people and places. Seemingly, when students move to new cities or countries and live in dormitory with another students, they meet many different people that have never seen before and they can learn a lot about cultures, tradition, habits and beliefs of other people by different nationalities. Seeing new people and new places, I believe, students can gain a different look at the world. In my view, this different look at the world is very worthy for everyone.
Besides preparation for career and getting new experiences, people attend college for increasing their knowledge. It appears that when students choose their field of study, they decide what are they looking for, in fact, students acquire specific knowledge based on their field of study, such as history, medicine, math, psychology, engineering and many other fields. For example, if a student chooses history as the area of study, he/she can get a lot of knowledge about events that happened in the past or about people that lived in days of yore. Also, if a student decides to study in the area of psychology, he/she can learn about peoples' mind, characteristics and attitudes.
All in all, people attend college to

Now, many might argue that college is the only way to secure a good job position and the only reason to get a degree. Jeffrey Selingo, a professor at the University of Arizona and the former editor of the Chronicle of Higher Education, writes that students and their parents prefer to obtain a bachelor's degree designated to a specific area; for example, the most popular today is business. That is why “students and their families, faced with big tuition bills, want to be sure to pick a major that leads to a job after graduation. ” (Selingo) That is to say, parents and students are worried that their investment in education can be wasted and hope to get a return in the future.…

There are many reasons why people go to college. College plays a role a student’s life, one of these roles are to help get students a better job that pays them a lot but that isn’t the only reason. According to Melisa McCreery “Higher education provides a number of benefits; most notably to the nation’s economic stability and job creation, civic engagement, and pulling students from low socioeconomic situation and landing them securely in middle class America.” In other words college is to help better a student’s life as well as to help them be able to contribute to society positively. College also provides many classes that can help students achieve their full potential when they are out in the world as well and making you better understand the world. According to Robert Harris these classes are liberal arts classes. Although you might argue that you don’t need these classes for many majors by them self but Harris explains to you the benefits that taking a…

There are many reasons to attend college, for many of us we are pushed by our parents to acquire the highest level of education, possibly an education they haven't acquired themselves. We are taught at an early age that education is the "only" way to achieve success. I think that is no way to push a person to go to school. I believe we all have a choice to choice what we want to do, and not be lied to by our parents, nor society to become who ever we are meant to be, whatever path we may take, may it be through an educational institution or through other means we all have reasons to attend "college".…

Life is full of obstacles which starts out on an easy level but only becomes harder the further on down. Because of the obstacle turning meticulous, people eventually crave to attend college to pursue an education; young adult, middle aged, or over middle aged adults. The reason people are inspired to attend college is that the job industries are wanting people with degrees over people with hands-on- skills. As a matter of facts, college degree gives the person a status symbol in life. Nowadays, people look to the person through his/her education status, and people with Master’s degree or PHD’s don’t have the same status as people without any degree. For example, when companies want to hire employees they always prefer the more educated people. That’s a good reason why people should go and seek college degrees because without it, it’s hard to find a job.…

People go to college for many different reasons. Many students are forced to go to college, resulting in them being unhappy and later on resentful. Others go just for the title of being a college student. “For some young people, it is a graceful way to get away from home and become independent without losing the financial support of their parents.” (Bird 484) It is beaten into many of our heads that society would look down at us for not attending college, and that to be successful in life you need to have some sort of a college education. Many students are told that going to college is much more presentable than to end up like someone such as a garbage man or janitor. One of the main reasons of going off to college is to get a good job.…

College students are yongsters aging from 18 to 35. An undergraduate fresh person, having just passed the standardized SAT test, must go wild learning throughout various distinct departments to check out whether the major he or she is in now matches his or her own talent and interest. This searching could be extended to sophomore year students if this student were still not sure about where the directon is. Graduate students in Maryland or Sloan should have some focus on remote sensing, environment or accounting. Even so, they nevertheless maintain the right and chance to look outside at culture, arts, psychology and physics, which might in a new way solve the problems in their field.…
