Community College- Free or Not Free? Life is full of obstacles which starts out on an easy level but only becomes harder the further on down. Because of the obstacle turning meticulous, people eventually crave to attend college to pursue an education; young adult, middle aged, or over middle aged adults. The reason people are inspired to attend college is that the job industries are wanting people with degrees over people with hands-on- skills. The definition of a community college is a college without a residential facility (Credo Reference). The average cost of a four-year University is $26,27 (College Board)which is a extreme difference than a community college. Usually, students who attend a university received scholarships and tuitions from achieving a high G.P.A. in high school. Another difference between universities and community colleges is that a community college is open to the public and students who have not received scholarships in high school attend the two- year program. In addition, community colleges are usually the areas where the G.E.D. is taken. Community colleges are becoming popular and actually convenient to those who work and want to get a degree. Middle-aged people attend community colleges to better their careers, like promotions because they learn more from pursuing an education. The middle age people attending community colleges to further in their careers are great role models for society. Some people do not have to worry about not affording college, although, community colleges are already low for pricing that it would not hurt to add college in taxes. According to Brian Brus, the recession has put a lot of strain on America (Brus 2009). From the result of all the strain, loans are meticulous along with financial aid. The financial aid asks for every budget a person uses so it can be estimated in how much a person receives for aid. It is quite stressful gathering everything for financial aid especially if people have lost the tax paper work and have to re-order the paper work. Aaron Basko explains in his article, Financial Aid: The Tough Questions , Subsidized Stafford Loan from the federal government pays the interests until the student graduates (Basko 2005). Looking at the whole picture, the loan is a good deal because the government is helping in the end.
