Patton Fuller Hospital
Introduction
Since its inception in 1975, Patton – Fuller Community Hospital has been dedicated to providing cutting-edge medical care to the people of Kelsey and the surrounding communities. PFCH is a for-profit hospital and is owned by physicians active at the facility. Quality patient care is the key to a hospital’s success and as shareholders in PFCH. The hospital has seven network diagrams divided into two areas; the first one is clinical areas, which include ERs and ORs, Pharmacy, Labs, Radiology, Drs Personal Offices, Wards, Outpatient Examining Rooms, and ICU. The second area is the administrative functions, which include IT Department, Admitting/Discharge, Facilities, HR, Hospital Senior Management, and Finance. The backbone network structure for the entire hospital is 1000 BaseT. Individual sections of departmental networks such as Radiology use different standards such as 1000 BaseF, with a complete power backup system in case of emergency. Since the Hospital deal with a very sensitive data including patients information and medical records, PFCH using HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) to secure and backup its data. All patient data files are encrypted for storage using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). All access to patient data files requires identification and authentication of each user. In all Radiology modalities the DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine) standard and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) are standard. The administrative area run on 1000 BaseT using CAT6 Cable, while the Clinical area run on 1000 BaseF suing the single mode fiber and they are both connected by a network bridge. The administrative network has one computer for the executive management, has all the network stations connected to it, run on Apple iMAC, GHZ,GB Ram and IT MB HP.
